⁹ God also said; Let the waters that are under the heaven, be gathered together into one place: and let the dry land appear. And it was so done.

⁷ He stretched out the north over the empty space, and hangeth the earth upon nothing.

¹⁰ He hath set bounds about the waters, till light and darkness come to an end.

⁸ Who shut up the sea with doors, when it broke forth as issuing out of the womb: ⁹ When I made a cloud the garment thereof, and wrapped it in a mist as in swaddling bands? ¹⁰ I set my bounds around it, and made it bars and doors: ¹¹ And I said: Hitherto thou shalt come, and shalt go no further, and here thou shalt break thy swelling waves.

¹ On the first day of the week, a psalm for David. The earth is the Lord's and the fulness thereof: the world, and all they that dwell therein. ² For he hath founded it upon the seas; and hath prepared it upon the rivers.

⁷ Gathering together the waters of the sea, as in a vessel; laying up the depths in storehouses.

⁵ For the sea is his, and he made it: and his hands formed the dry land.

³ Who coverest the higher rooms thereof with water. Who makest the clouds thy chariot: who walkest upon the wings of the winds.

⁵ Who hast founded the earth upon its own bases: it shall not be moved for ever and ever. ⁶ The deep like a garment is its clothing: above the mountains shall the waters stand. ⁷ At thy rebuke they shall flee: at the voice of thy thunder they shall fear. ⁸ The mountains ascend, and the plains descend into the place which thou hast founded for them. ⁹ Thou hast set a bound which they shall not pass over; neither shall they return to cover the earth.

⁵ Who made the heavens in understanding: for his mercy endureth for ever. ⁶ Who established the earth above the waters: for his mercy endureth for ever.

²⁸ When he established the sky above, and poised the fountains of waters: ²⁹ When he compassed the sea with its bounds, and set a law to the waters that they should not pass their limits: when he balanced the foundations of the earth;

⁷ All the rivers run into the sea, yet the sea doth not overflow: unto the place from whence the rivers come, they return, to flow again.

²² Will not you then fear me, saith the Lord: and will you not repent at my presence? I have set the sand a bound for the sea, an everlasting ordinance, which it shall not pass over: and the waves thereof shall toss themselves, and shall not prevail: they shall swell, and shall not pass over it.

⁹ And he said to them: I am a Hebrew, and I fear the Lord, and the God of heaven, who made both the sea and the dry land.

⁵ For this they are wilfully ignorant of: That the heavens were before, and the earth out of water and through water, consisting by the word of God:

⁶ And he swore by him that liveth for ever and ever, who created heaven and the things which are therein, and the earth and the things which are in it, and the sea and the things which are therein: That time shall be no longer.
