¹⁶ And when any controversy falleth out among them, they come to me to judge between them, and to shew the precepts of God, and his laws.

⁷ Thou shalt fly Iying. The innocent and just person thou shalt not put to death: because I abhor the wicked.

¹⁴ Said to the ancients: Wait ye here till we return to you. You have Aaron and Hur with you: if any question shall arise, you shall refer it to them. ¹⁵ And thou shalt speak to the children of Israel: The man that curseth his God, shall bear his sin:

³⁵ And the Lord said to Moses: Let that man die, let all the multitude stone him without the camp.

⁶ The daughters of Salphaad demand a just thing: Give them a possession among their father's kindred, and let them succeed him in his inheritance. ⁷ And to the children of Israel thou shalt speak these things: ⁸ When a man dieth without a son, his inheritance shall pass to his daughter. ⁹ If he have no daughter, his brethren shall succeed him. ¹⁰ And if he have no brethren, you shall give the inheritance to his father's brethren. ¹¹ But if he have no uncles by the father, the inheritance shall be given to them that are the next akin. And this shall be to the children of Israel sacred by a perpetual law, as the Lord hath commanded Moses.

⁶ And this is the law promulgated by the Lord touching the daughters of Salphaad: Let them marry to whom they will, only so that it be to men of their own tribe. ⁷ Lest the possession of the children of Israel be mingled from tribe to tribe. For all men shall marry wives of their own tribe and kindred: ⁸ And all women shall take husbands of the same tribe: that the inheritance may remain in the families. ⁹ And that the tribes be not mingled one with another, but remain so

⁵ You know that I have taught you statutes and justices, as the Lord my God hath commanded me: so shall you do them in the land which you shall possess:

¹ And Moses called all Israel, and said to them: Hear, O Israel, the ceremonies and judgments, which I speak in your ears this day: learn them, and fulfil them in work.

¹ These are the precepts, and ceremonies, and judgments, which the Lord your God commanded that I should teach you, and that you should do them in the land into which you pass over to possess it:

⁸ If thou perceive that there be among you a hard and doubtful matter in judgment between blood and blood, cause and cause, leprosy and leprosy: and thou see that the words of the judges within thy gates do vary: arise, and go up to the place, which the Lord thy God shall choose. ⁹ And thou shalt come to the priests of the Levitical race, and to the judge, that shall be at that time: and thou shalt ask of them, and they shall shew thee the truth of the judgment. ¹⁰ And thou shalt do whatsoever they shall say, that preside in the place, which the Lord shall choose, and what they shall teach thee, ¹¹ According to his law; and thou shalt follow their sentence: neither shalt thou decline to the right hand nor to the left hand. ¹² But he that will be proud, and refuse to obey the commandment of the priest, who ministereth at that time to the Lord thy God, and the decree of the judge, that man shall die, and thou shalt take away the evil from Israel:

²³ And far from me be this sin against the Lord, that I should cease to pray for you: and I will teach you the good and right way.

³ And Absalom answered him: Thy words seem to me good and just. But there is no man appointed by the king to hear thee. And Absalom said:

¹³ If I have despised to abide judgment with my manservant, or my maidservant, when they had any controversy against me:

²⁰ Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you. And behold I am with you all days, even to the consummation of the world.

¹⁴ And when Paul was beginning to open his mouth, Gallio said to the Jews: If it were some matter of injustice or an heinous deed, O Jews, I should with reason bear with you. ¹⁵ But if they be questions of word and names and of your law, look you to it. I will not be judge of such things.

¹ Dare any of you, having a matter against another, go to be judged before the unjust: and not before the saints?

¹ For the rest therefore, brethren, pray and beseech you in the Lord Jesus that, as you have received from us, how you ought to walk and to please God, so also you would walk, that you may abound the more. ² For you know what precepts I have given to you by the Lord Jesus.
