¹⁹ When thou hast reaped the corn in thy field, and hast forgot and left a sheaf, thou shalt not return to take it away: but thou shalt suffer the stranger, and the fatherless and the widow to take it away: that the Lord thy God may bless thee in all the works of thy hands.

⁹ When thou reapest the corn of thy land, thou shalt not cut down all that is on the face of the earth to the very ground: nor shalt thou gather the ears that remain. ¹⁰ Neither shalt thou gather the bunches and grapes that fall down in thy vineyard: but shalt leave them to the poor and the strangers to take. I am the Lord your God.

²⁹ And the Levite that hath no other part nor possession with thee, and the stranger and the fatherless and the widow, that are within thy gates, shall come and shall eat and be filled: that the Lord thy God may bless thee in all the works of thy hands that thou shalt do.

¹⁰ But thou shalt give to him: neither shalt thou do any thing craftily in relieving his necessities: that the Lord thy God may bless thee at all times, and in all things to which thou shalt put thy hand.

²⁰ If thou have gathered the fruit of thy olive trees, thou shalt not return to gather whatsoever remaineth on the trees: but shalt leave it for the stranger, for the fatherless, and the widow. ²¹ If thou make the vintage of thy vineyard, thou shalt not gather the clusters that remain, but they shall be for the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow.

¹³ And thou shalt speak thus in the sight of the Lord thy God: I have taken that which was sanctified out of my house, and I have given it to the Levite, and to the stranger, and to the fatherless, and to the widow, as thou hast commanded me: I have not transgressed thy commandments nor forgotten thy precepts.

¹⁶ And let fall some of your handfuls of purpose, and leave them, that she may gather them without shame, and let no man rebuke her when she gathereth them.

¹⁶ If I have denied to the poor what they desired, and have made the eyes of the widow wait: ¹⁷ If I have eaten my morsel alone, and the fatherless hath not eaten thereof: ¹⁸ (For from my infancy mercy grew up with me: and it came out with me from my mother's womb:) ¹⁹ If I have despised him that was perishing for want of clothing, and the poor man that had no covering: ²⁰ If his sides have not blessed me, and if he were not warmed with the fleece of my sheep: ²¹ If I have lifted up my hand against the fatherless, even when I saw myself superior in the gate: ²² Let my shoulder fall from its joint, and let my arm with its bones be broken.

¹² And the Lord blessed the latter end of Job more than his beginning. And he had fourteen thousand sheep, and six thousand camels, and a thousand yoke of oxen, and a thousand she asses.

¹ Unto the end, a psalm for David himself. ^(41:2) Blessed is he that understandeth concerning the needy and the poor: the Lord will deliver him in the evil day. ^{2 (41:3)} The Lord preserve him and give him life, and make him blessed upon the earth: and deliver him not up to the will of his enemies. ^{3 (41:4)} The Lord help him on his bed of sorrow: thou hast turned all his couch in his sickness.

⁹ He hath distributed, he hath given to the poor: his justice remaineth for ever and ever: his horn shall be exalted in glory.

²⁴ Some distribute their own goods, and grow richer: others take away what is not their own, and are always in want. ²⁵ The soul that blesseth, shall be made fat: and he that inebriateth, shall be inebriated also himself.

²¹ He that despiseth his neighbour, sinneth: but he that sheweth mercy to the poor, shall be blessed. He that believeth in the Lord, loveth mercy.

¹⁷ He that hath mercy on the poor, lendeth to the Lord: and he will repay him.

⁸ But the prince will devise such things as are worthy of a prince, and he shall stand above the rulers.

⁷ Deal thy bread to the hungry, and bring the needy and the harbourless into thy house: when thou shalt see one naked, cover him, and despise not thy own flesh. ⁸ Then shall thy light break forth as the morning, and thy health shall speedily arise, and thy justice shall go before thy face, and the glory of the Lord shall gather thee up. ⁹ Then shalt thou call, and the Lord shall hear: thou shalt cry, and he shall say, Here I am. If thou wilt take away the chain out of the midst of thee, and cease to stretch out the finger, and to speak that which profiteth not. ¹⁰ When thou shalt pour out thy soul to the hungry, and shalt satisfy the afflicted soul, then shall thy light rise up in darkness, and thy darkness shall be as the noonday. ¹¹ And the Lord will give thee rest continually, and will fill thy soul with brightness, and deliver thy bones, and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a fountain of water whose waters shall not fail.

³⁵ But love ye your enemies: do good, and lend, hoping for nothing thereby: and your reward shall be great, and you shall be the sons of the Highest. For he is kind to the unthankful and to the evil.

³⁸ Give: and it shall be given to you: good measure and pressed down and shaken together and running over shall they give into your bosom. For with the same measure that you shall mete withal, it shall be measured to you again.

¹³ But when thou makest a feast, call the poor, the maimed, the lame and the blind. ¹⁴ And thou shalt be blessed, because they have not wherewith to make thee recompense: for recompense shall be made thee at the resurrection of the just.

⁶ Now this I say: He who soweth sparingly shall also reap sparingly: and he who soweth in blessings shall also reap blessings. ⁷ Every one as he hath determined in his heart, not with sadness or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. ⁸ And God is able to make all grace abound in you: that ye always, having all sufficiently in all things, may abound to every good work,

¹⁷ He that hath the substance of this world and shall see his brother in need and shall shut up his bowels from him: how doth the charity of God abide in him? ¹⁸ My little children, let us not love in word nor in tongue, but in deed and in truth. ¹⁹ In this we know that we are of the truth and in his sight shall persuade our hearts.
