¹⁸ Because Christ also died once for our sins, the just for the unjust: that he might offer us to God, being put to death indeed in the flesh, but enlivened in the spirit,

⁴ Surely he hath borne our infirmities and carried our sorrows: and we have thought him as it were a leper, and as one struck by God and afflicted. ⁵ But he was wounded for our iniquities, he was bruised for our sins: the chastisement of our peace was upon him, and by his bruises we are healed. ⁶ All we like sheep have gone astray, every one hath turned aside into his own way: and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.

²⁶ And after sixty-two weeks Christ shall be slain: and the people that shall deny him shall not be his. And a people, with their leader, that shall come, shall destroy the city, and the sanctuary: and the end thereof shall be waste, and after the end of the war the appointed desolation.

⁹ Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Sion, shout for joy, O daughter of Jerusalem: BEHOLD THY KING will come to thee, the just and saviour: he is poor, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt, the foal of an ass.

¹⁹ And as he was sitting in the place of judgment, his wife sent to him, saying: Have thou nothing to do with that just man; for I have suffered many things this day in a dream because of him.

²⁴ And Pilate seeing that he prevailed nothing, but that rather a tumult was made, taking water washed his hands before the people, saying: I am innocent of the blood of this just man. Look you to it.

¹⁴ But you denied the Holy One and the Just: and desired a murderer to be granted unto you.

¹⁴ But he said: The God of our fathers hath preordained thee that thou shouldst know his will and see the Just One and shouldst hear the voice from his mouth.

⁴ Who was predestinated the Son of God in power, according to the spirit of sanctification, by the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ from the dead:

²⁵ Who was delivered up for our sins and rose again for our justification.

² By whom also we have access through faith into this grace wherein we stand: and glory in the hope of the glory of the sons of God.

⁶ For why did Christ, when as yet we were weak, according to the time, die for the ungodly? ⁷ For scarce for a just man will one die: yet perhaps for a good man some one would dare to die. ⁸ But God commendeth his charity towards us: because when as yet we were sinners according to the time.

³ For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God, sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and of sin, hath condemned sin in the flesh.

¹¹ And if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you; he that raised up Jesus Christ, from the dead shall quicken also your mortal bodies, because of his Spirit that dwelleth in you.

²¹ Him, who knew no sin, he hath made sin for us: that we might be made the justice of God in him. Sin for us... That is, to be a sin offering, a victim for sin.

⁴ For although he was crucified through weakness, yet he liveth by the power of God. For we also are weak in him: but we shall live with him by the power of God towards you.

⁴ Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present wicked world, according to the will of God and our Father:

¹³ Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us (for it is written: Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree).

¹⁶ And might reconcile both to God in one body by the cross, killing the enmities in himself. ¹⁷ And coming, he preached peace to you that were afar off: and peace to them that were nigh. ¹⁸ For by him we have access both in one Spirit to the Father.

²¹ And you, whereas you were some time alienated and enemies in mind in evil works: ²² Yet now he hath reconciled in the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unspotted and blameless before him:

¹⁴ Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity and might cleanse to himself a people acceptable, a pursuer of good works.

²⁶ For then he ought to have suffered often from the beginning of the world. But now once, at the end of ages, he hath appeared for the destruction of sin by the sacrifice of himself.

²⁸ So also Christ was offered once to exhaust the sins of many. The second time he shall appear without sin to them that expect him unto salvation.

⁶ You have condemned and put to death the Just One: and he resisted you not.

²¹ For unto this are you called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving you an example that you should follow his steps. ²² Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth. ²³ Who, when he was reviled, did not revile: when he suffered, he threatened not, but delivered himself to him that judged him unjustly. ²⁴ Who his own self bore our sins in his body upon the tree: that we, being dead to sins, should live to justice: by whose stripes you were healed.

¹ Christ therefore having suffered in the flesh, be you also armed with the same thought: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sins:

⁶ For, for this cause was the gospel preached also to the dead: That they might be judged indeed according to men, in the flesh: but may live according to God, in the Spirit.

⁹ If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just, to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all iniquity.
