⁵ And you know that he appeared to take away our sins: and in him there is no sin.

⁴ Surely he hath borne our infirmities and carried our sorrows: and we have thought him as it were a leper, and as one struck by God and afflicted. ⁵ But he was wounded for our iniquities, he was bruised for our sins: the chastisement of our peace was upon him, and by his bruises we are healed. ⁶ All we like sheep have gone astray, every one hath turned aside into his own way: and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. ⁷ He was offered because it was his own will, and he opened not his mouth: he shall be led as a sheep to the slaughter, and shall be dumb as a lamb before his shearer, and he shall not open his mouth. ⁸ He was taken away from distress, and from judgment: who shall declare his generation? because he is cut off out of the land of the living: for the wickedness of my people have I struck him. ⁹ And he shall give the ungodly for his burial, and the rich for his death: because he hath done no iniquity, neither was there deceit in his mouth. ¹⁰ And the Lord was pleased to bruise him in infirmity: if he shall lay down his life for sin, he shall see a longlived seed, and the will of the Lord shall be prosperous in his hand. ¹¹ Because his soul hath laboured, he shall see and be filled: by his knowledge shall this my just servant justify many, and he shall bear their iniquities. ¹² Therefore will I distribute to him very many, and he shall divide the spoils of the strong, because he hath delivered his soul unto death, and was reputed with the wicked: and he hath borne the sins of many, and hath prayed for the transgressors.

^{2 (14:3)} Take with you words, and return to the Lord, and say to him: Take away all iniquity, and receive the good: and we will render the calves of our lips.

²¹ And she shall bring forth a son: and thou shalt call his name Jesus. For he shall save his people from their sins.

⁴¹ And we indeed justly: for we receive the due reward of our deeds. But this man hath done no evil.

⁴⁷ Now, the centurion, seeing what was done, glorified God, saying: Indeed this was a just man.

²⁹ The next day, John saw Jesus coming to him; and he saith: Behold the Lamb of God. Behold him who taketh away the sin of the world.

³¹ And I knew him not: but that he may be made manifest in Israel, therefore am I come baptizing with water.

⁴⁶ Which of you shall convince me of sin? If I say the truth to you, why do you not believe me:

³⁰ I will not now speak many things with you. For the prince of this world: cometh: and in me he hath not any thing.

²⁴ Being justified freely by his grace, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, ²⁵ Whom God hath proposed to be a propitiation, through faith in his blood, to the shewing of his justice, for the remission of former sins, ²⁶ Through the forbearance of God, for the shewing of his justice in this time: that he himself may be just and the justifier of him who is of the faith of Jesus Christ

²¹ Him, who knew no sin, he hath made sin for us: that we might be made the justice of God in him. Sin for us... That is, to be a sin offering, a victim for sin.

²⁵ Husbands, love your wives, as Christ also loved the church and delivered himself up for it: ²⁶ That he might sanctify it, cleansing it by the laver of water in the word of life: ²⁷ That he might present it to himself, a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.

¹⁵ A faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the chief.

¹⁶ And evidently great is the mystery of godliness, which was manifested in the flesh, was justified in the spirit, appeared unto angels, hath been preached unto the Gentiles, is believed in the world, is taken up in glory.

¹⁴ Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity and might cleanse to himself a people acceptable, a pursuer of good works.

³ Who being the brightness of his glory and the figure of his substance and upholding all things by the word of his power, making purgation of sins, sitteth on the right hand of the majesty on high:

¹⁵ For we have not a high priest who cannot have compassion on our infirmities: but one tempted in all things like as we are, without sin.

²⁶ For it was fitting that we should have such a high priest, holy, innocent, undefiled, separated from sinners, and made higher than the heavens:

²⁶ For then he ought to have suffered often from the beginning of the world. But now once, at the end of ages, he hath appeared for the destruction of sin by the sacrifice of himself.

²⁸ So also Christ was offered once to exhaust the sins of many. The second time he shall appear without sin to them that expect him unto salvation.

²⁰ Foreknown indeed before the foundation of the world, but manifested in the last times for you:

²² Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth.

²⁴ Who his own self bore our sins in his body upon the tree: that we, being dead to sins, should live to justice: by whose stripes you were healed.

¹⁸ Because Christ also died once for our sins, the just for the unjust: that he might offer us to God, being put to death indeed in the flesh, but enlivened in the spirit,

² For the life was manifested: and we have seen and do bear witness and declare unto you the life eternal, which was with the Father and hath appeared to us.

⁷ But if we walk in the light, as he also is in the light, we have fellowship one with another: And the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

¹ My little children, these things I write to you, that you may not sin. But if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the just.

⁹ By this hath the charity of God appeared towards us, because God hath sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we may live by him. ¹⁰ In this is charity: not as though we had loved God, but because he hath first loved us, and sent his Son to be a propitiation for our sins. ¹¹ My dearest, if God hath so loved us, we also ought to love one another. ¹² No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God abideth in us: and his charity is perfected in us. ¹³ In this we know that we abide in him, and he in us: because he hath given us of his spirit. ¹⁴ And we have seen and do testify that the Father hath sent his Son to be the Saviour of the world.

⁵ And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, the first begotten of the dead and the prince of the kings of the earth, who hath loved us and washed us from our sins in his own blood
