¹⁰ Neither do you murmur, as some of them murmured and were destroyed by the destroyer.

²³ For the Lord will pass through striking the Egyptians: and when he shall see the blood on the transom, and on both the posts, he will pass over the door of the house, and not suffer the destroyer to come into your houses and to hurt you.

²⁴ And the people murmured against Moses, saying: What shall we drink?

² And all the congregation of the children of Israel murmured against Moses and Aaron in the wilderness. ³ And the children of Israel said to them: Would to God we had died by the hand of the Lord in the land of Egypt, when we sat over the fleshpots, and ate bread to the full: Why have you brought us into this desert, that you might destroy all the multitude with famine? ⁴ And the Lord said to Moses: Behold I will rain bread from heaven for you; let the people go forth, and gather what is sufficient for every day: that I may prove them whether they will walk in my law, or not. ⁵ But the sixth day let them provide for to bring in: and let it be double to that they were wont to gather every day. ⁶ And Moses and Aaron said to the children of Israel In the evening you shall know that the Lord hath brought you forth out of the land of Egypt: ⁷ And in the morning you shall see the glory of the Lord: for he hath heard your murmuring against the Lord: but as for us, what are we, that you mutter against us? ⁸ And Moses said: In the evening the Lord will give you flesh to eat, and in the morning bread to the full: for he hath heard your murmurings, with which you have murmured against him, for what are we? your murmuring is not against us, but against the Lord. ⁹ Moses also said to Aaron: Say to the whole congregation of the children of Israel: Come before the Lord; for he hath heard your murmuring.

² And they chode with Moses, and said: Give us water, that we may drink. And Moses answered them: Why chide you with me? Wherefore do you tempt the Lord? ³ So the people were thirsty there for want of water, and murmured against Moses, saying: Why didst thou make us go forth out of Egypt, to kill us and our children, and our beasts with thirst?

² And all the children of Israel murmured against Moses and Aaron, saying:

²⁷ How long doth this wicked multitude murmur against me? I have heard the murmurings of the children of Israel. ²⁸ Say therefore to them: As I live, saith the Lord: According as you have spoken in my hearing, so will I do to you. ²⁹ In the wilderness shall your carcasses lie. All you that were numbered from twenty years old and upward, and have murmured against me, ³⁰ Shall not enter into the land, over which I lifted up my hand to make you dwell therein, except Caleb the son of Jephone, and Josue the son of Nun.

³⁷ Died and were struck in the sight of the Lord.

⁴¹ The following day all the multitude of the children of Israel murmured against Moses and Aaron, saying: You have killed the people of the Lord.

⁴⁶ Moses said to Aaron: Take the censer, and putting fire in it from the altar, put incense upon it, and go quickly to the people to pray for them: for already wrath is gone out from the Lord, and the plague rageth. ⁴⁷ When Aaron had done this, and had run to the midst of the multitude which the burning fire was now destroying, he offered the incense: ⁴⁸ And standing between the dead and the living, he prayed for the people, and the plague ceased. ⁴⁹ And the number of them that were slain was fourteen thousand and seven hundred men, besides them that had perished in the sedition of Core.

¹⁶ And when the angel of the Lord had stretched out his hand over Jerusalem to destroy it, the Lord had pity on the affliction, and said to the angel that slew the people: It is enough: now hold thy hand. And the angel of the Lord was by the thrashingfloor of Areuna the Jebusite.

¹⁵ And he sent an angel to Jerusalem, to strike it: and as he was striking it, the Lord beheld, and took pity for the greatness of the evil: and said to the angel that destroyed: It is enough, now stop thy hand. And the angel of the Lord stood by the thrashingfloor of Ornan the Jebusite.

²¹ And the Lord sent an angel, who cut off all the stout men and the warriors, and the captains of the army of the king of the Assyrians: and he returned with disgrace into his own country. And when he was come into the house of his god, his sons that came out of his bowels, slew him with the sword.

²⁵ And they murmured in their tents: they hearkened not to the voice of the Lord.

³⁹ And the enemy that sowed them, is the devil. But the harvest is the end of the world. And the reapers are the angels. ⁴⁰ Even as cockle therefore is gathered up, and burnt with fire: so shall it be at the end of the world. ⁴¹ The Son of man shall send his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all scandals, and them that work iniquity. ⁴² And shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

²³ And forthwith an angel of the Lord struck him, because he had not given the honour to God: and, being eaten up by worms, he gave up the ghost.

¹⁴ And do ye all things without murmurings and hesitations:

⁷ And to you who are troubled, rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with the angels of his power: ⁸ In a flame of fire, giving vengeance to them who know not God and who obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.

²⁸ By faith he celebrated the pasch and the shedding of the blood: that he who destroyed the firstborn might not touch them.

¹⁶ These are murmurers, full of complaints, walking according to their own desires: and their mouth speaketh proud things, admiring persons, for gain's sake.

¹ And I heard a great voice out of the temple, saying to the seven angels: Go and pour out the seven vials of the wrath of God upon the earth.
