¹⁷ haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood;

¹⁰ that innocent blood be not shed in the midst of thy land which Jehovah thy God giveth thee for an inheritance, and blood come not upon thee.

²⁵ Cursed be he that taketh reward to smite mortally [shedding] innocent blood! And all the people shall say, Amen.

⁴ and also [because of] the innocent blood that he had shed; for he had filled Jerusalem with innocent blood, and Jehovah would not pardon.

⁶ Thou wilt destroy them that speak lies: Jehovah abhorreth a man of blood and deceit.

⁴ The wicked [saith], in the haughtiness of his countenance, He doth not search out: all his thoughts are, There is no God!

²⁷ For it is thou that savest the afflicted people; but the haughty eyes wilt thou bring down.

¹⁸ Let the lying lips become dumb, which speak insolently against the righteous in pride and contempt.

⁶ Therefore pride encompasseth them as a neck-chain, violence covereth them [as] a garment; ⁷ Their eyes stand out from fatness, they exceed the imaginations of their heart: ⁸ They mock and speak wickedly of oppression, they speak loftily:

⁵ Whoso secretly slandereth his neighbour, him will I destroy; him that hath a high look and a proud heart will I not suffer.

² Jehovah, deliver my soul from the lying lip, from the deceitful tongue. ³ What shall be given unto thee, what shall be added unto thee, thou deceitful tongue?

¹ {A Song of degrees. Of David.} Jehovah, my heart is not haughty, nor mine eyes lofty; neither do I exercise myself in great matters, and in things too wonderful for me.

¹¹ If they say, Come with us, let us lay wait for blood, let us lurk secretly for the innocent without cause;

²² Lying lips are an abomination to Jehovah; but they that deal truly are his delight.

⁵ A faithful witness will not lie; but a false witness uttereth lies.

⁷ Excellent speech becometh not a vile [man]; how much less do lying lips a noble!

⁴ Lofty eyes, and a proud heart, the lamp of the wicked, is sin.

²⁸ A lying tongue hateth those that are injured by it, and a flattering mouth worketh ruin.

¹³ there is a generation, -- how lofty are their eyes, how their eyelids are lifted up!

¹⁵ And when ye spread forth your hands, I will hide mine eyes from you; yea, when ye make many prayers, I will not hear: your hands are full of blood.

¹¹ The lofty eyes of man shall be brought low, and the haughtiness of men shall be bowed down, and Jehovah alone shall be exalted in that day.

⁹ The look of their face doth witness against them, and they declare their sin as Sodom: they hide it not. Woe unto their soul! for they have brought evil upon themselves.

¹⁶ And Jehovah said, Because the daughters of Zion are haughty, and walk with stretched-out neck and wanton eyes, and go along mincing, and making a tinkling with their feet;

³ For your hands are stained with blood, and your fingers with iniquity; your lips speak lies, your tongue muttereth unrighteousness: ⁴ none calleth for justice, none pleadeth in truthfulness. They trust in vanity, and speak falsehood; they conceive mischief, and bring forth iniquity. ⁵ They hatch serpents` eggs, and weave the spider`s web: he that eateth of their eggs dieth, and that which is crushed breaketh out into a viper. ⁶ Their webs shall not become garments, neither shall they cover themselves with their works; their works are works of iniquity, and the act of violence is in their hands. ⁷ Their feet run to evil, and they make haste to shed innocent blood; their thoughts are thoughts of iniquity; wasting and destruction are in their paths;

¹ Hear the word of Jehovah, ye children of Israel; for Jehovah hath a controversy with the inhabitants of the land; for there is no truth, nor goodness, nor knowledge of God in the land. ² Swearing, and lying, and killing, and stealing, and committing adultery, -- they break out; and blood toucheth blood.

⁴⁴ Ye are of the devil, as [your] father, and ye desire to do the lusts of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and has not stood in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks falsehood, he speaks of what is his own; for he is a liar and its father:

⁵ Likewise [ye] younger, be subject to [the] elder, and all of you bind on humility towards one another; for God sets himself against [the] proud, but to [the] humble gives grace.

¹⁵ Without [are] the dogs, and the sorcerers, and the fornicators, and the murderers, and the idolaters, and every one that loves and makes a lie.
