²¹ My son, let them not depart from thine eyes; keep sound wisdom and discretion:

⁹ Only take heed to thyself, and keep thy soul diligently, lest thou forget the things that thine eyes have seen (and lest they depart from thy heart all the days of thy life; but thou shalt make them known to thy sons and to thy sons` sons),

⁶ And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thy heart; ⁷ and thou shalt impress them on thy sons, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thy house, and when thou goest on the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. ⁸ And thou shalt bind them for a sign on thy hand, and they shall be for frontlets between thine eyes. ⁹ And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and upon thy gates.

⁴⁶ he said unto them, Set your hearts unto all the words that I testify among you this day, which ye shall command your children to take heed to do, all the words of this law. ⁴⁷ For it is no vain word for you, but it is your life, and through this word ye shall prolong your days on the land whereunto ye pass over the Jordan to possess it.

⁷ He layeth up sound wisdom for the upright; [he] is a shield to them that walk in integrity;

³¹ Jesus therefore said to the Jews who believed him, If ye abide in my word, ye are truly my disciples;

⁶ Unless any one abide in me he is cast out as the branch, and is dried up; and they gather them and cast them into the fire, and they are burned. ⁷ If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will and it shall come to pass to you.

¹ For this reason we should give heed more abundantly to the things [we have] heard, lest in any way we should slip away. ² For if the word which was spoken by angels was firm, and every transgression and disobedience received just retribution, ³ how shall *we* escape if we have been negligent of so great salvation, which, having had its commencement in being spoken [of] by the Lord, has been confirmed to us by those who have heard;

²⁴ As for *you* let that which ye have heard from the beginning abide in you: if what ye have heard from the beginning abides in you, *ye* also shall abide in the Son and in the Father.

²⁷ and *yourselves*, the unction which ye have received from him abides in you, and ye have not need that any one should teach you; but as the same unction teaches you as to all things, and is true and is not a lie, and even as it has taught you, ye shall abide in him.
