¹ For the kingdom of the heavens is like a householder who went out with the early morn to hire workmen for his vineyard.

¹¹ Solomon had a vineyard at Baal-hamon: He let out the vineyard unto keepers; Every one for the fruit thereof was to bring a thousand silver-pieces. ¹² My vineyard, which is mine, is before me: The thousand [silver-pieces] be to thee, Solomon; And to the keepers of its fruit, two hundred.

¹ I will sing to my well-beloved a song of my beloved touching his vineyard: My well-beloved had a vineyard upon a fruitful hill. ² And he dug it, and gathered out the stones thereof, and planted it with the choicest vine; and he built a tower in the midst of it, and also hewed out a winepress therein; and he looked that it should bring forth grapes, but it brought forth wild grapes.

³ From the thirteenth year of Josiah the son of Amon, the king of Judah, even unto this day, these three and twenty years, the word of Jehovah hath come unto me, and I have spoken unto you, rising early and speaking; but ye have not hearkened. ⁴ And Jehovah hath sent unto you all his servants the prophets, rising early and sending; but ye have not hearkened, nor inclined your ear to hear,

² and saying, Repent, for the kingdom of the heavens has drawn nigh.

³⁷ Then saith he to his disciples, The harvest [is] great and the workmen [are] few; ³⁸ supplicate therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he send forth workmen unto his harvest.

²⁴ Another parable set he before them, saying, The kingdom of the heavens has become like a man sowing good seed in his field;

³¹ Another parable set he before them, saying, The kingdom of the heavens is like a grain of mustard [seed] which a man took and sowed in his field;

³³ He spoke another parable to them: The kingdom of the heavens is like leaven, which a woman took and hid in three measures of meal until it had been all leavened.

⁴⁴ The kingdom of the heavens is like a treasure hid in the field, which a man having found has hid, and for the joy of it goes and sells all whatever he has, and buys that field. ⁴⁵ Again, the kingdom of the heavens is like a merchant seeking beautiful pearls;

⁴⁷ Again, the kingdom of the heavens is like a seine which has been cast into the sea, and which has gathered together of every kind,

²⁸ But what think ye? A man had two children, and coming to the first he said, Child, go to-day, work in [my] vineyard.

³³ Hear another parable: There was a householder who planted a vineyard, and made a fence round it, and dug a winepress in it, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, and left the country. ³⁴ But when the time of fruit drew near, he sent his bondmen to the husbandmen to receive his fruits. ³⁵ And the husbandmen took his bondmen, and beat one, killed another, and stoned another. ³⁶ Again he sent other bondmen more than the first, and they did to them in like manner. ³⁷ And at last he sent to them his son, saying, They will have respect for my son. ³⁸ But the husbandmen, seeing the son, said among themselves, This is the heir; come, let us kill him and possess his inheritance. ³⁹ And they took him, and cast him forth out of the vineyard, and killed him. ⁴⁰ When therefore the lord of the vineyard comes, what shall he do to those husbandmen? ⁴¹ They say to him, He will miserably destroy those evil [men], and let out the vineyard to other husbandmen, who shall render him the fruits in their seasons. ⁴² Jesus says to them, Have ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which they that builded rejected, this has become the corner-stone: this is of [the] Lord, and it is wonderful in our eyes? ⁴³ Therefore I say to you, that the kingdom of God shall be taken from you and shall be given to a nation producing the fruits of it.

² The kingdom of the heavens has become like a king who made a wedding feast for his son,

³⁷ Jerusalem, Jerusalem, [the city] that kills the prophets and stones those that are sent unto her, how often would I have gathered thy children as a hen gathers her chickens under her wings, and ye would not!

¹ Then shall the kingdom of the heavens be made like to ten virgins that having taken their torches, went forth to meet the bridegroom.

¹⁴ For [it is] as [if] a man going away out of a country called his own bondmen and delivered to them his substance.

³⁴ [it is] as a man gone out of the country, having left his house and given to his bondmen the authority, and to each one his work, and commanded the doorkeeper that he should watch.

¹ I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman.

⁵⁸ So then, my beloved brethren, be firm, immovable, abounding always in the work of the Lord, knowing that your toil is not in vain in [the] Lord.

²¹ perfect you in every good work to the doing of his will, doing in you what is pleasing before him through Jesus Christ; to whom [be] glory for the ages of ages. Amen.

⁵ But for this very reason also, using therewith all diligence, in your faith have also virtue, in virtue knowledge, ⁶ in knowledge temperance, in temperance endurance, in endurance godliness, ⁷ in godliness brotherly love, in brotherly love love: ⁸ for these things existing and abounding in you make [you] to be neither idle nor unfruitful as regards the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ; ⁹ for he with whom these things are not present is blind, short-sighted, and has forgotten the purging of his former sins. ¹⁰ Wherefore the rather, brethren, use diligence to make your calling and election sure, for doing these things ye will never fall;
