¹⁸ [The] Spirit of [the] Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to preach glad tidings to [the] poor; he has sent me to preach to captives deliverance, and to [the] blind sight, to send forth [the] crushed delivered,

¹⁵ And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; he shall crush thy head, and thou shalt crush his heel.

²⁷ Because thy heart was tender, and thou didst humble thyself before God, when thou heardest his words against this place and against the inhabitants thereof, and humbledst thyself before me, and didst rend thy garments and weep before me, I also have heard [thee], saith Jehovah.

² The kings of the earth set themselves, and the princes plot together, against Jehovah and against his anointed:

⁶ And *I* have anointed my king upon Zion, the hill of my holiness.

¹⁸ Jehovah is nigh to those that are of a broken heart, and saveth them that are of a contrite spirit.

⁷ Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated wickedness; therefore God, thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy companions.

¹⁷ The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.

²⁰ To hear the groaning of the prisoner, to loose those that are appointed to die;

¹⁰ Such as inhabit darkness and the shadow of death, bound in affliction and iron, ¹¹ Because they had rebelled against the words of ?God, and had despised the counsel of the Most High; ... ¹² And he bowed down their heart with labour; they stumbled, and there was none to help: ¹³ Then they cried unto Jehovah in their trouble, [and] he saved them out of their distresses; ¹⁴ He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, and broke their bands in sunder. ¹⁵ Let them give thanks unto Jehovah for his loving-kindness, and for his wondrous works to the children of men; ¹⁶ For he hath broken the gates of bronze, and cut asunder the bars of iron.

⁷ Who executeth judgment for the oppressed, who giveth bread to the hungry. Jehovah looseth the prisoners; ⁸ Jehovah openeth [the eyes of] the blind; Jehovah raiseth up them that are bowed down; Jehovah loveth the righteous;

³ He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.

² and the Spirit of Jehovah shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of Jehovah. ³ And his delight will be in the fear of Jehovah; and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears; ⁴ but with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity the meek of the earth: and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked. ⁵ And righteousness shall be the girdle of his reins, and faithfulness the girdle of his loins.

¹⁸ And in that day shall the deaf hear the words of the book, and, out of obscurity and out of darkness, the eyes of the blind shall see; ¹⁹ and the meek shall increase their joy in Jehovah, and the needy among men shall rejoice in the Holy One of Israel.

³ And the eyes of them that see shall not be dim, and the ears of them that hear shall hearken;

⁵ Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf be unstopped;

¹ Behold my servant whom I uphold, mine elect [in whom] my soul delighteth! I will put my Spirit upon him; he shall bring forth judgment to the nations. ² He shall not cry, nor lift up, nor cause his voice to be heard in the street. ³ A bruised reed shall he not break, and smoking flax shall he not quench: he shall bring forth judgment according to truth. ⁴ He shall not faint nor be in haste, till he have set justice in the earth: and the isles shall wait for his law.

⁷ to open the blind eyes, to bring forth the prisoner from the prison, them that sit in darkness out of the house of restraint.

¹⁶ And I will bring the blind by a way that they know not, in paths that they know not will I lead them; I will make darkness light before them, and crooked things straight. These things will I do unto them, and not forsake them. ¹⁷ They shall be turned back, they shall be covered with shame, that confide in graven images, that say to the molten images, Ye are our gods. ¹⁸ -- Hear, ye deaf; and look, ye blind, that ye may see.

¹³ It is I that have raised him up in righteousness, and I will make all his ways straight: he shall build my city, and he shall let go my captives, not for price nor reward, saith Jehovah of hosts.

⁹ saying to the prisoners, Go forth; to them that are in darkness, Shew yourselves. They shall feed in the ways, and their pasture shall be on all bare hills.

²⁴ Shall the prey be taken from the mighty? and shall he that is rightfully captive be delivered? ²⁵ For thus saith Jehovah: Even the captive of the mighty shall be taken away, and the prey of the terrible shall be delivered; and I will strive with him that striveth with thee, and I will save thy children.

⁴ The Lord Jehovah hath given me the tongue of the instructed, that I should know how to succour by a word him that is weary. He wakeneth morning by morning, he wakeneth mine ear to hear as the instructed.

² Shake thyself from the dust; arise, sit down, Jerusalem: loose thyself from the bands of thy neck, captive daughter of Zion. ³ For thus saith Jehovah: Ye have sold yourselves for nought, and ye shall be redeemed without money.

¹⁵ For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, and whose name is Holy: I dwell in the high and holy [place], and with him that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.

²¹ And as for me, this is my covenant with them, saith Jehovah: My spirit that is upon thee, and my words which I have put in thy mouth, shall not depart out of thy mouth, nor out of the mouth of thy seed, nor out of the mouth of thy seed`s seed, saith Jehovah, from henceforth and for ever.

¹ The Spirit of the Lord Jehovah is upon me, because Jehovah hath anointed me to announce glad tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the broken-hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and opening of the prison to them that are bound;

² Even all these things hath my hand made, and all these things have been, saith Jehovah. But to this man will I look: to the afflicted and contrite in spirit, and who trembleth at my word.

⁴ and Jehovah said unto him, Go through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem, and set a mark upon the foreheads of the men that sigh and that cry for all the abominations that are done in the midst thereof.

²⁴ Seventy weeks are apportioned out upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to close the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make expiation for iniquity, and to bring in the righteousness of the ages, and to seal the vision and prophet, and to anoint the holy of holies.

¹² And I will leave in the midst of thee an afflicted and poor people, and they shall trust in the name of Jehovah.

¹¹ As for thee also, by the blood of thy covenant, I will send forth thy prisoners out of the pit wherein is no water. ¹² Turn again to the stronghold, prisoners of hope! even to-day do I declare I will render double unto thee.

¹¹ And it was broken in that day; and so the poor of the flock that gave heed to me knew that it was the word of Jehovah.

² And unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth and leap like fatted calves.

¹⁶ -- the people sitting in darkness has seen a great light, and to those sitting in [the] country and shadow of death, to them has light sprung up.

³ Blessed [are] the poor in spirit, for *theirs* is the kingdom of the heavens.

²⁷ And as Jesus passed on thence, two blind [men] followed him, crying and saying, Have mercy on us, Son of David. ²⁸ And when he was come to the house, the blind [men] came to him. And Jesus says to them, Do ye believe that I am able to do this? They say to him, Yea, Lord. ²⁹ Then he touched their eyes, saying, According to your faith, be it unto you. ³⁰ And their eyes were opened; and Jesus charged them sharply, saying, See, let no man know it.

⁵ Blind [men] see and lame walk; lepers are cleansed, and deaf hear; and dead are raised, and poor have glad tidings preached to them:

²⁰ a bruised reed shall he not break, and smoking flax shall he not quench, until he bring forth judgment unto victory;

²⁰ And *he*, lifting up his eyes upon his disciples, said, Blessed [are] ye poor, for yours is the kingdom of God.

²² And Jesus answering said to them, Go, bring back word to John of what ye have seen and heard: that blind see, lame walk, lepers are cleansed, deaf hear, dead are raised, poor are evangelized;

⁴¹ He first finds his own brother Simon, and says to him, We have found the Messias (which being interpreted is Christ).

³⁴ for he whom God has sent speaks the words of God, for God gives not the Spirit by measure.

³⁹ And Jesus said, For judgment am I come into this world, that they which see not may see, and they which see may become blind. ⁴⁰ And [some] of the Pharisees who were with him heard these things, and they said to him, Are we blind also? ⁴¹ Jesus said to them, If ye were blind ye would not have sin; but now ye say, We see, your sin remains.

⁴⁶ I am come into the world [as] light, that every one that believes on me may not abide in darkness;

²⁷ For in truth against thy holy servant Jesus, whom thou hadst anointed, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, with [the] nations, and peoples of Israel, have been gathered together in this city

³⁸ Jesus who [was] of Nazareth: how God anointed him with [the] Holy Spirit and with power; who went through [all quarters] doing good, and healing all that were under the power of the devil, because God was with him.

¹⁸ to open their eyes, that they may turn from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive remission of sins and inheritance among them that are sanctified by faith in me.

⁸ for ye were once darkness, but now light in [the] Lord; walk as children of light, ⁹ (for the fruit of the light [is] in all goodness and righteousness and truth,) ¹⁰ proving what is agreeable to the Lord; ¹¹ and do not have fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather also reprove [them], ¹² for the things that are done by them in secret it is shameful even to say. ¹³ But all things having their true character exposed by the light are made manifest; for that which makes everything manifest is light. ¹⁴ Wherefore he says, Wake up, [thou] that sleepest, and arise up from among the dead, and the Christ shall shine upon thee.

¹³ who has delivered us from the authority of darkness, and translated [us] into the kingdom of the Son of his love:

⁵ for all *ye* are sons of light and sons of day; we are not of night nor of darkness. ⁶ So then do not let us sleep as the rest do, but let us watch and be sober;

⁵ Hear, my beloved brethren: Has not God chosen the poor as to the world, rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom, which he has promised to them that love him?

⁹ But *ye* [are] a chosen race, a kingly priesthood, a holy nation, a people for a possession, that ye might set forth the excellencies of him who has called you out of darkness to his wonderful light;

⁸ Again, I write a new commandment to you, which thing is true in him and in you, because the darkness is passing and the true light already shines. ⁹ He who says he is in the light, and hates his brother, is in the darkness until now. ¹⁰ He that loves his brother abides in light, and there is no occasion of stumbling in him.
