⁶ And Abram passed through the land to the place of Shechem, to the oak of Moreh. And the Canaanite was then in the land.

¹⁵ -- And Canaan begot Sidon, his firstborn, and Heth,

¹⁸ and the Arvadite, and the Zemarite, and the Hamathite. And afterwards the families of the Canaanites spread themselves abroad. ¹⁹ And the border of the Canaanite was from Sidon, as one goes to Gerar, up to Gazah; as one goes to Sodom, and Gomorrah, and Admah, and Zeboim, up to Lesha.

⁷ And there was strife between the herdsmen of Abram`s cattle and the herdsmen of Lot`s cattle. And the Canaanite and the Perizzite were dwelling then in the land.

¹⁸ On the same day Jehovah made a covenant with Abram, saying, Unto thy seed I give this land, from the river of Egypt to the great river, the river Euphrates; ¹⁹ the Kenites, and the Kenizzites, and the Kadmonites, ²⁰ and the Hittites, and the Perizzites, and the Rephaim, ²¹ and the Amorites, and the Canaanites, and the Girgashites, and the Jebusites.

¹⁸ And Jacob came safely [to the] city Shechem, which is in the land of Canaan, when he came from Padan-Aram; and he encamped before the city.

² And when Shechem, the son of Hamor the Hivite, the prince of the country, saw her, he took her, and lay with her, and humbled her.

⁴ And they gave to Jacob all the strange gods that were in their hand, and the rings that were in their ears, and Jacob hid them under the terebinth that [is] by Shechem.

³⁰ Are they not on the other side of the Jordan, beyond the way toward the going down of the sun, in the land of the Canaanites that dwell on the plain opposite to Gilgal, beside the oaks of Moreh?

¹ And Jerubbaal, who is Gideon, arose early, and all the people that were with him, and they encamped beside the spring Harod; and he had the camp of Midian on the north by the hill of Moreh in the valley.

¹ And Abimelech son of Jerubbaal went to Shechem to his mother`s brethren, and spoke to them, and to all the family of the house of his mother`s father, saying,

⁵ He comes therefore to a city of Samaria called Sychar, near to the land which Jacob gave to his son Joseph.

⁹ By faith he sojourned as a stranger in the land of promise as a foreign country, having dwelt in tents with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with [him] of the same promise;
