⁶ But from those who were conspicuous as being somewhat -- whatsoever they were, it makes no difference to me: God does not accept man`s person; for to me those who were conspicuous communicated nothing;

⁶ And Elihu the son of Barachel the Buzite answered and said, I am young, and ye are aged; wherefore I was timid, and feared to shew you what I know. ⁷ I said, Let days speak, and multitude of years teach wisdom.

¹⁷ I will answer, I also in my turn, I also will shew what I know: ¹⁸ For I am full of matter, the spirit within me constraineth me. ¹⁹ Behold, my belly is as wine which hath no vent; like new flasks, it is ready to burst. ²⁰ I will speak, that I may find relief; I will open my lips and answer. ²¹ Let me not, I pray you, accept any man`s person; neither will I give flattery to man. ²² For I know not how to flatter; my Maker would soon take me away.

¹⁹ [How then to him] that accepteth not the persons of princes, nor regardeth the rich man more than the poor? for they are all the work of his hands.

¹⁶ And they send out to him their disciples with the Herodians, saying, Teacher, we know that thou art true and teachest the way of God in truth, and carest not for any one, for thou regardest not men`s person;

¹⁷ For the same Herod had sent and seized John, and had bound him in prison on account of Herodias, the wife of Philip his brother, because he had married her. ¹⁸ For John said to Herod, It is not lawful for thee to have the wife of thy brother. ¹⁹ But Herodias kept it [in her mind] against him, and wished to kill him, and could not: ²⁰ for Herod feared John knowing that he was a just and holy man, and kept him safe; and having heard him, did many things, and heard him gladly.

¹⁴ And they come and say to him, Teacher, we know that thou art true, and carest not for any one; for thou regardest not men`s person, but teachest the way of God with truth: Is it lawful to give tribute to Caesar or not?

²¹ And they asked him saying, Teacher, we know that thou sayest and teachest rightly, and acceptest no [man`s] person, but teachest with truth the way of God:

³⁴ And Peter opening his mouth said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons,

⁶ And the apostles and the elders were gathered together to see about this matter. ⁷ And much discussion having taken place, Peter, standing up, said to them, Brethren, *ye* know that from the earliest days God amongst you chose that the nations by my mouth should hear the word of the glad tidings and believe. ⁸ And the heart-knowing God bore them witness, giving [them] the Holy Spirit as to us also, ⁹ and put no difference between us and them, having purified their hearts by faith. ¹⁰ Now therefore why tempt ye God, by putting a yoke upon the neck of the disciples, which neither our fathers nor we have been able to bear? ¹¹ But we believe that we shall be saved by the grace of the Lord Jesus, in the same manner as they also. ¹² And all the multitude kept silence and listened to Barnabas and Paul relating all the signs and wonders which God had wrought among the nations by them. ¹³ And after they had held their peace, James answered, saying, Brethren, listen to me: ¹⁴ Simon has related how God first visited to take out of [the] nations a people for his name. ¹⁵ And with this agree the words of the prophets; as it is written: ¹⁶ After these things I will return, and will rebuild the tabernacle of David which is fallen, and will rebuild its ruins, and will set it up, ¹⁷ so that the residue of men may seek out the Lord, and all the nations on whom my name is invoked, saith [the] Lord, who does these things ¹⁸ known from eternity. ¹⁹ Wherefore *I* judge, not to trouble those who from the nations turn to God; ²⁰ but to write to them to abstain from pollutions of idols, and from fornication, and from what is strangled, and from blood. ²¹ For Moses, from generations of old, has in every city those who preach him, being read in the synagogues every sabbath. ²² Then it seemed good to the apostles and to the elders, with the whole assembly, to send chosen men from among them with Paul and Barnabas to Antioch, Judas called Barsabas and Silas, leading men among the brethren, ²³ having by their hand written [thus]: The apostles, and the elders, and the brethren, to the brethren who are from among [the] nations at Antioch, and [in] Syria and Cilicia, greeting: ²⁴ Inasmuch as we have heard that some who went out from amongst us have troubled you by words, upsetting your souls, [saying that ye must be circumcised and keep the law]; to whom we gave no commandment; ²⁵ it seemed good to us, having arrived at a common judgment, to send chosen men to you with our beloved Barnabas and Paul, ²⁶ men who have given up their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. ²⁷ We have therefore sent Judas and Silas, who themselves also will tell you by word [of mouth] the same things. ²⁸ For it has seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to us to lay upon you no greater burden than these necessary things: ²⁹ to abstain from things sacrificed to idols, and from blood, and from what is strangled, and from fornication; keeping yourselves from which ye will do well. Farewell.

¹¹ for there is no acceptance of persons with God.

¹⁶ So that *we* henceforth know no one according to flesh; but if even we have known Christ according to flesh, yet now we know [him thus] no longer.

⁵ For I reckon that in nothing I am behind those who are in surpassing degree apostles.

²¹ I speak as to dishonour, as though *we* had been weak; but wherein any one is daring, (I speak in folly,) *I* also am daring. ²² Are they Hebrews? *I* also. Are they Israelites? *I* also. Are they seed of Abraham? *I* also. ²³ Are they ministers of Christ? (I speak as being beside myself) *I* above measure [so]; in labours exceedingly abundant, in stripes to excess, in prisons exceedingly abundant, in deaths oft.

¹¹ I have become a fool; *ye* have compelled me; for *I* ought to have been commended by you; for I have been nothing behind those who were in surpassing degree apostles, if also I am nothing.

² and I went up according to revelation, and I laid before them the glad tidings which I preach among the nations, but privately to those conspicuous [among them], lest in any way I run or had run in vain;

⁹ and recognising the grace given to me, James and Cephas and John, who were conspicuous as being pillars, gave to me and Barnabas [the] right hands of fellowship, that *we* [should go] to the nations, and *they* to the circumcision; ¹⁰ only that we should remember the poor, which same thing also I was diligent to do. ¹¹ But when Peter came to Antioch, I withstood him to [the] face, because he was to be condemned: ¹² for before that certain came from James, he ate with [those of] the nations; but when they came, he drew back and separated himself, fearing those of [the] circumcision; ¹³ and the rest of the Jews also played the same dissembling part with him; so that even Barnabas was carried away too by their dissimulation. ¹⁴ But when I saw that they do not walk straightforwardly, according to the truth of the glad tidings, I said to Peter before all, If *thou*, being a Jew, livest as the nations and not as the Jews, how dost thou compel the nations to Judaize?

³ For if any man reputes himself to be something, being nothing, he deceives himself;

⁷ Remember your leaders who have spoken to you the word of God; and considering the issue of their conversation, imitate their faith.

¹⁷ Obey your leaders, and be submissive; for *they* watch over your souls as those that shall give account; that they may do this with joy, and not groaning, for this [would be] unprofitable for you.

¹⁷ And if ye invoke as Father him who, without regard of persons, judges according to the work of each, pass your time of sojourn in fear,
