⁹ Wilt thou then say before him that slayeth thee, I am God? but thou shalt be a man, and not ?God, in the hand of him that pierceth thee.

⁷ But ye shall die like men, and fall like one of the princes.

³ And the Egyptians are men, and not ?God, and their horses flesh, and not spirit; and Jehovah shall stretch forth his hand, and he that helpeth shall stumble, and he that is helped shall fall, and they all shall perish together.

² Son of man, say unto the prince of Tyre, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Because thy heart is lifted up, and thou hast said, I am a ?god, I sit [in] the seat of God, in the heart of the seas, (and thou art a man, and not ?God,) and thou settest thy heart as the heart of God:

³¹ While the word was in the king`s mouth, there fell a voice from the heavens: King Nebuchadnezzar, to thee it is spoken: The kingdom is departed from thee; ³² and they shall drive thee from men, and thy dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field; they shall make thee to eat grass as oxen, and seven times shall pass over thee, until thou know that the Most High ruleth over the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will.

²³ but hast lifted up thyself against the Lord of the heavens; and they have brought the vessels of his house before thee, and thou and thy nobles, thy wives and thy concubines, have drunk wine in them; and thou hast praised the gods of silver and gold, of brass, iron, wood, and stone, which see not, nor hear, nor know; and the God in whose hand thy breath is, and whose are all thy ways, hast thou not glorified: ²⁴ then from before him was sent the part of the hand, and this writing hath been written. ²⁵ And this is the writing that is written: MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPHARSIN. ²⁶ This is the interpretation of the thing: MENE, God hath numbered thy kingdom, and finished it; ²⁷ TEKEL, Thou art weighed in the balances, and art found wanting; ²⁸ PERES, Thy kingdom is divided, and given to the Medes and Persians. ²⁹ Then Belshazzar commanded, and they clothed Daniel with purple, and [put] a chain of gold about his neck, and made proclamation concerning him that he should be the third ruler in the kingdom. ³⁰ In that night was Belshazzar the king of the Chaldeans slain.

²² And the people cried out, A god`s voice and not a man`s. ²³ And immediately an angel of [the] Lord smote him, because he did not give the glory to God, and he expired, eaten of worms.
