³ Not with our fathers did Jehovah make this covenant, but with us, [even] us, those [who are] here alive all of us this day.

⁷ And I will establish my covenant between me and thee, and thy seed after thee in their generations, for an everlasting covenant, to be a God to thee, and to thy seed after thee.

²¹ But my covenant will I establish with Isaac, whom Sarah shall bear to thee at this appointed time in the next year.

¹⁰ Ye stand this day all of you before Jehovah your God: your chiefs [of] your tribes, your elders, and your officers, all the men of Israel, ¹¹ your little ones, your wives, and thy stranger that is in thy camp, as well the hewer of thy wood as the drawer of thy water; ¹² that thou mayest enter into the covenant of Jehovah thy God, and into his oath, which Jehovah thy God maketh with thee this day; ¹³ that he may establish thee this day for a people unto himself, and [that] he may be to thee a God, as he hath said unto thee, and as he hath sworn unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob. ¹⁴ Neither with you only do I make this covenant and this oath, ¹⁵ but with him that standeth here with us this day before Jehovah our God, and with him that is not here with us this day

⁸ He is ever mindful of his covenant, -- the word which he commanded to a thousand generations, -- ⁹ Which he made with Abraham, and of his oath unto Isaac; ¹⁰ And he confirmed it unto Jacob for a statute, unto Israel for an everlasting covenant,

³⁸ And they shall be my people, and I will be their God. ³⁹ And I will give them one heart, and one way, that they may fear me all [their] days, for the good of them, and of their children after them. ⁴⁰ And I will make an everlasting covenant with them, that I will not draw back from them, to do them good; and I will put my fear in their heart, that they may not turn aside from me.

¹⁷ for verily I say unto you, that many prophets and righteous [men] have desired to see the things which ye behold and did not see [them], and to hear the things which ye hear and did not hear [them].

¹⁷ Now I say this, A covenant confirmed beforehand by God, the law, which took place four hundred and thirty years after, does not annul, so as to make the promise of no effect. ¹⁸ For if the inheritance [be] on the principle of law, [it is] no longer on the principle of promise; but God gave it in grace to Abraham by promise. ¹⁹ Why then the law? It was added for the sake of transgressions, until the seed came to whom the promise was made, ordained through angels in [the] hand of a mediator. ²⁰ But a mediator is not of one, but God is one. ²¹ [Is] then the law against the promises of God? Far be the thought. For if a law had been given able to quicken, then indeed righteousness were on the principle of law;

⁸ For finding fault, he says to them, Behold, days come, saith the Lord, and I will consummate a new covenant as regards the house of Israel, and as regards the house of Juda; ⁹ not according to the covenant which I made to their fathers in [the] day of my taking their hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because *they* did not continue in my covenant, and *I* did not regard them, saith [the] Lord.
