⁶ let seven men of his sons be given up to us, and we will hang them up to Jehovah in Gibeah of Saul, the chosen of Jehovah. And the king said, I will give [them].

¹⁹ In yet three days will Pharaoh lift up thy head from off thee, and hang thee on a tree; and the birds will eat thy flesh from off thee.

²² And he hanged the chief of the bakers, as Joseph had interpreted to them.

²² And if a man have committed a sin worthy of death, and he be put to death, and thou have hanged him on a tree,

¹⁶ To-morrow about this time I will send thee a man out of the land of Benjamin, and thou shalt anoint him prince over my people Israel; and he will save my people out of the hand of the Philistines; for I have looked upon my people, because their cry is come unto me. ¹⁷ And as Samuel saw Saul, Jehovah answered him, Behold the man of whom I spoke to thee! this man shall rule over my people.

¹ Then Samuel took the vial of oil, and poured it upon his head, and kissed him, and said, Is it not because Jehovah has anointed thee prince over his inheritance?

²⁴ And Samuel said to all the people, See ye him whom Jehovah has chosen, that there is none like him among all the people? And all the people shouted and said, May the king live.

²⁶ And Saul also went home to Gibeah; and with him went the band, whose hearts God had touched.

⁴ And the messengers came to Gibeah of Saul and told these words in the ears of the people. And all the people lifted up their voice and wept.

²³ And when Ahithophel saw that his counsel was not followed, he saddled his ass, and arose and went to his house, to his city, and gave charge to his household, and hanged himself, and he died; and he was buried in the sepulchre of his father.

¹⁰ And a man saw it, and told Joab, and said, Behold, I saw Absalom hanging in a terebinth.

¹¹ Also I have given order that whosoever shall alter this rescript, let timber be pulled down from his house, and being set up, let him be hanged thereon, and let his house be made a dunghill for this.
