²⁷ in labour and toil, in watchings often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, in cold and nakedness.

⁹ My lord, O king, these men have done evil in all that they have done to the prophet Jeremiah, whom they have cast into the dungeon; and he will die by reason of the famine in the place where he is; for there is no more bread in the city.

² And as they were ministering to the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, Separate me now Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them. ³ Then, having fasted and prayed, and having laid [their] hands on them, they let [them] go.

²³ And having chosen them elders in each assembly, having prayed with fastings, they committed them to the Lord, on whom they had believed.

⁵ These going before waited for us in Troas; ⁶ but we sailed away from Philippi after the days of unleavened bread, and we came to them to Troas in five days, where we spent seven days. ⁷ And the first day of the week, we being assembled to break bread, Paul discoursed to them, about to depart on the morrow. And he prolonged the discourse till midnight. ⁸ And there were many lights in the upper room where we were assembled. ⁹ And a certain youth, by name Eutychus, sitting at the window-opening, overpowered by deep sleep, while Paul discoursed very much at length, having been overpowered by the sleep, fell from the third story down to the bottom, and was taken up dead. ¹⁰ But Paul descending fell upon him, and enfolding [him] [in his arms], said, Be not troubled, for his life is in him. ¹¹ And having gone up, and having broken the bread, and eaten, and having long spoken until daybreak, so he went away.

³¹ Wherefore watch, remembering that for three years, night and day, I ceased not admonishing each one [of you] with tears.

³⁴ Yourselves know that these hands have ministered to my wants, and to those who were with me. ³⁵ I have shewed you all things, that thus labouring [we] ought to come in aid of the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that he himself said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.

³⁵ Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? tribulation or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? ³⁶ According as it is written, For thy sake we are put to death all the day long; we have been reckoned as sheep for slaughter.

¹¹ To the present hour we both hunger and thirst, and are in nakedness, and buffeted, and wander without a home, ¹² and labour, working with our own hands. Railed at, we bless; persecuted, we suffer [it];

⁵ Defraud not one another, unless, it may be, by consent for a time, that ye may devote yourselves to prayer, and again be together, that Satan tempt you not because of your incontinency.

⁵ in stripes, in prisons, in riots, in labours, in watchings, in fastings,

²³ Are they ministers of Christ? (I speak as being beside myself) *I* above measure [so]; in labours exceedingly abundant, in stripes to excess, in prisons exceedingly abundant, in deaths oft.

¹² I know both how to be abased and I know how to abound. In everything and in all things I am initiated both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer privation.

⁹ For ye remember, brethren, our labour and toil: working night and day, not to be chargeable to any one of you, we have preached to you the glad tidings of God.

⁸ nor have we eaten bread from any one without cost; but in toil and hardship working night and day not to be chargeable to any one of you:

³⁷ They were stoned, were sawn asunder, were tempted, died by the death of the sword; they went about in sheepskins, in goatskins, destitute, afflicted, evil treated,

¹⁵ Now if a brother or a sister is naked and destitute of daily food, ¹⁶ and one from amongst you say to them, Go in peace, be warmed and filled; but give not to them the needful things for the body, what [is] the profit?
