⁵ For this reason *I* also, no longer able to refrain myself, sent to know your faith, lest perhaps the tempter had tempted you and our labour should be come to nothing.

⁴ -- And I said, I have laboured in vain, I have spent my strength for nought and in vain; nevertheless my judgment is with Jehovah, and my work with my God.

³ And the tempter coming up to him said, If thou be Son of God, speak, that these stones may become loaves of bread.

³⁶ But after certain days Paul said to Barnabas, Let us return now and visit the brethren in every city where we have announced the word of the Lord, [and see] how they are getting on.

⁵ Defraud not one another, unless, it may be, by consent for a time, that ye may devote yourselves to prayer, and again be together, that Satan tempt you not because of your incontinency.

¹¹ that we might not have Satan get an advantage against us, for we are not ignorant of *his* thoughts.

⁵ For indeed, when we came into Macedonia, our flesh had no rest, but [we were] afflicted in every way; without combats, within fears. ⁶ But he who encourages those that are [brought] low, [even] God, encouraged us by the coming of Titus; ⁷ and not by his coming only, but also through the encouragement with which he was encouraged as to you; relating to us your ardent desire, your mourning, your zeal for me; so that I the more rejoiced.

² For I am jealous as to you with a jealousy [which is] of God; for I have espoused you unto one man, to present [you] a chaste virgin to Christ. ³ But I fear lest by any means, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craft, [so] your thoughts should be corrupted from simplicity as to the Christ.

¹³ For such [are] false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into apostles of Christ. ¹⁴ And [it is] not wonderful, for Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light. ¹⁵ It is no great thing therefore if his ministers also transform themselves as ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.

⁶ I wonder that ye thus quickly change, from him that called you in Christ`s grace, to a different gospel, ⁷ which is not another [one]; but there are some that trouble you, and desire to pervert the glad tidings of the Christ. ⁸ But if even *we* or an angel out of heaven announce as glad tidings to you [anything] besides what we have announced as glad tidings to you, let him be accursed. ⁹ As we have said before, now also again I say, If any one announce to you as glad tidings [anything] besides what ye have received, let him be accursed.

² and I went up according to revelation, and I laid before them the glad tidings which I preach among the nations, but privately to those conspicuous [among them], lest in any way I run or had run in vain;

¹¹ I am afraid of you, lest indeed I have laboured in vain as to you.

¹⁴ in order that we may be no longer babes, tossed and carried about by every wind of *that* teaching [which is] in the sleight of men, in unprincipled cunning with a view to systematized error;

¹⁶ holding forth [the] word of life, so as to be a boast for me in Christ`s day, that I have not run in vain nor laboured in vain.

¹ For ye know yourselves, brethren, our entering in which [we had] to you, that it has not been in vain;

¹ Wherefore, being no longer able to refrain ourselves, we thought good to be left alone in Athens, ² and sent Timotheus, our brother and fellow-workman under God in the glad tidings of Christ, to confirm you and encourage [you] concerning your faith,

⁶ But Timotheus having just come to us from you, and brought to us the glad tidings of your faith and love, and that ye have always good remembrance of us, desiring much to see us, even as we also you;

¹³ Let no man, being tempted, say, I am tempted of God. For God cannot be tempted by evil things, and himself tempts no one. ¹⁴ But every one is tempted, drawn away, and enticed by his own lust;
