⁶ And Solomon said, Thou hast shewn unto thy servant David my father great loving-kindness, according as he walked before thee in truth, and in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart with thee; and thou hast kept for him this great loving-kindness, that thou hast given him a son who sits upon his throne, as it is this day.

⁷ Not so my servant Moses: he is faithful in all my house.

⁵ Go and say to my servant, to David, Thus saith Jehovah: Wilt thou build me a house for me to dwell in?

⁸ And now, thus shalt thou say unto my servant David, Thus saith Jehovah of hosts: I took thee from the pasture-grounds, from following the sheep, to be prince over my people, over Israel; ⁹ and I have been with thee whithersoever thou wentest, and have cut off all thine enemies from before thee, and have made thee a great name, like unto the name of the great men that are on the earth. ¹⁰ And I will appoint a place for my people, for Israel, and will plant them, that they may dwell in a place of their own, and be disturbed no more; neither shall the sons of wickedness afflict them any more, as formerly, ¹¹ and since the time that I commanded judges to be over my people Israel. And I have given thee rest from all thine enemies; and Jehovah telleth thee that Jehovah will make thee a house. ¹² When thy days are fulfilled, and thou shalt sleep with thy fathers, I will set up thy seed after thee, which shall proceed out of thy bowels, and I will establish his kingdom.

⁷ And Nathan said to David, Thou art the man! Thus saith Jehovah the God of Israel: I anointed thee king over Israel, and I delivered thee out of the hand of Saul; ⁸ and I gave thee thy master`s house, and thy master`s wives into thy bosom, and gave thee the house of Israel and of Judah; and if [that] had been too little, I would moreover have given unto thee such and such things.

⁴⁷ Jehovah liveth; and blessed be my rock; And exalted be the God, the rock of my salvation, ⁴⁸ The ?God who hath avenged me, And hath brought the peoples under me. ⁴⁹ He brought me forth from mine enemies: Yea, thou hast lifted me up above them that rose up against me; From the man of violence hast thou delivered me. ⁵⁰ Therefore will I give thanks to thee, Jehovah, among the nations, And will sing psalms to thy name. ⁵¹ [It is he] who giveth great deliverances to his king, And sheweth loving-kindness to his anointed, To David, and to his seed for evermore.

⁴⁸ And also thus said the king: Blessed be Jehovah, the God of Israel, who has given one to sit on my throne this day, mine eyes even seeing it.

⁴ that Jehovah may confirm his word which he spoke concerning me, saying, If thy sons take heed to their way, to walk before me in truth with all their heart and with all their soul, there shall not fail thee, said he, a man upon the throne of Israel.

⁴ And [as for] thee, if thou wilt walk before me, as David thy father walked, in integrity of heart, and in uprightness, to do according to all that I have commanded thee, [and] wilt keep my statutes and mine ordinances;

⁵ because David did that which was right in the sight of Jehovah, and turned not aside from anything that he commanded him all the days of his life, except in the matter of Urijah the Hittite.

³ Ah! Jehovah, remember, I beseech thee, how I have walked before thee in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done what is good in thy sight. And Hezekiah wept much.

¹² and riches and glory are of thee, and thou rulest over everything; and in thy hand is power and might; and in thy hand it is to make all great and strong. ¹³ And now, our God, we thank thee, and praise thy glorious name. ¹⁴ But who am I, and what is my people, that we should be able to offer willingly after this manner? for all is of thee, and of that which is from thy hand have we given thee.

⁶ I will sing unto Jehovah, for he hath dealt bountifully with me.

² He that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth from his heart.

²⁰ Jehovah hath rewarded me according to my righteousness; according to the cleanness of my hands hath he recompensed me. ²¹ For I have kept the ways of Jehovah, and have not wickedly departed from my God. ²² For all his ordinances were before me, and I did not put away his statutes from me; ²³ And I was upright with him, and kept myself from mine iniquity. ²⁴ And Jehovah hath recompensed me according to my righteousness, according to the cleanness of my hands in his sight.

⁷⁰ And he chose David his servant, and took him from the sheepfolds: ⁷¹ From following the suckling-ewes, he brought him to feed Jacob his people, and Israel his inheritance. ⁷² And he fed them according to the integrity of his heart, and led them by the skilfulness of his hands.

⁷ Return unto thy rest, O my soul; for Jehovah hath dealt bountifully with thee.

¹⁷ GIMEL. Deal bountifully with thy servant [and] I shall live; and I will keep thy word.

⁵ I thought it necessary therefore to beg the brethren that they would come to you, and complete beforehand your fore-announced blessing, that this may be ready thus as blessing, and not as got out of you.

¹¹ enriched in every way unto all free-hearted liberality, which works through us thanksgiving to God.
