¹ But on the first day of the week, at early dawn, they came to the tomb, bringing the spices which they had prepared.

⁵⁵ And many women were also there, looking on from afar, who had followed Jesus from Galilee, ministering to him; ⁵⁶ among whom were Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James and Joses, and the mother of Zebedee's sons.

¹ Now after the Sabbath, as the first day of the week began to dawn, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to see the tomb. ² And behold, there was a great earthquake; for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat on it. ³ His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow. ⁴ And the guards shook for fear of him, and became like dead men. ⁵ But the angel said to the women, "Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. ⁶ He is not here; for he has risen, as he said. Come, see the place where he lay. ⁷ Then go quickly and tell his disciples that he has risen from the dead. And behold, he is going before you to Galilee; there you will see him. Behold, I have told you." ⁸ So they departed quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy, and ran to tell his disciples.

⁴⁰ There were also women looking on from afar, among whom were Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James the younger and of Joses, and Salome,

¹ Now when the Sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices, so that they might go and anoint him. ² And very early on the first day of the week, they came to the tomb when the sun had risen. ³ And they asked each other, "Who will roll away the stone from the door of the tomb for us?" ⁴ But when they looked up, they saw that the stone, though it was very large, had been rolled away. ⁵ And entering the tomb, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, dressed in a white robe; and they were alarmed. ⁶ But he said to them, "Do not be alarmed. You seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He has risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid him. ⁷ But go, tell his disciples and Peter that he is going before you to Galilee; there you will see him, as he told you." ⁸ So they went out quickly and fled from the tomb, for trembling and astonishment had gripped them. And they said nothing to anyone, for they were afraid.

² and also some women who had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities: Mary, called Magdalene, from whom seven demons had come out, ³ and Joanna the wife of Chuza, Herod's steward, and Susanna, and many others who provided for them out of their means.

⁵⁵ Then they returned and prepared spices and perfumes. ⁵⁶ And on the Sabbath they rested according to the commandment.

¹⁰ It was Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary the mother of James, and the other women with them, who told this to the apostles.

¹ On the first day of the week Mary Magdalene went to the tomb early, while it was still dark, and saw that the stone had been taken away from the tomb. ² So she ran, and came to Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one whom Jesus loved, and said to them, "They have taken the Lord out of the tomb, and we do not know where they have laid him."
