⁴⁰ When he came to the place, he said to them, "Pray that you may not enter into temptation."

Behold, the hour is at hand, and the Son of Man is being betrayed into the hands of sinners. ⁴⁶ Rise, let us be going; see, my betrayer is at hand."

The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak." ³⁹ And again he went away and prayed, saying the same words. ⁴⁰ And when he came again, he found them sleeping, for their eyes were heavy; and they did not know what to answer him. ⁴¹ Then he came the third time and said to them, "Are you still sleeping and resting? It is enough! The hour has come; behold, the Son of Man is being betrayed into the hands of sinners. ⁴² Rise, let us go; see, my betrayer is at hand."

⁴ And forgive us our sins, for we ourselves also forgive everyone who is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation.'"

⁴⁶ He said to them, "Why do you sleep? Rise and pray that you may not enter into temptation."

⁷ And to keep me from being too elated because of the abundance of revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, a messenger of Satan, to harass me, to keep me from being too elated. ⁸ Three times I pleaded with the Lord about this, that it should depart from me. ⁹ But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest on me. ¹⁰ That is why, for Christ's sake, I am content in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties; for when I am weak, then I am strong.

¹⁸ Pray at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and petition. And with this in view, keep alert with all perseverance and petition for all the saints, ¹⁹ and also pray for me, that in the opening of my mouth, utterance may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel,

⁷ The end of all things is near; therefore be clear minded and sober for your prayers.

⁸ Be sober, be alert. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. ⁹ But resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same experiences of suffering are being accomplished by your brethren throughout the world.

¹⁰ Because you have kept my command to persevere, I also will keep you from the hour of trial which shall come upon the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth.
