¹¹ Now when they bring you before the synagogues and rulers and authorities, do not worry about how or what you should answer, or what you are to say;

¹⁷ But beware of men, for they will deliver you up to councils and flog you in their synagogues. ¹⁸ You will be brought before governors and kings for my sake, as a testimony to them and to the Gentiles. ¹⁹ But when they deliver you up, do not worry about how you are to speak or what you are to say; for what you are to say will be given to you in that hour; ²⁰ for it is not you who speak, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.

³⁴ Therefore I send you prophets and wise men and scribes. Some of them you will kill and crucify, and some you will scourge in your synagogues and persecute from town to town,

⁹ But watch out for yourselves, for they will deliver you up to councils, and you will be beaten in the synagogues. You will be brought before governors and kings for my sake, for a testimony to them. ¹⁰ And the gospel must first be preached to all nations. ¹¹ And when they bring you to trial and deliver you up, do not worry beforehand what you are to say. But say whatever is given you in that hour; for it is not you who speak, but the Holy Spirit.

²² Then he said to his disciples, "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; nor about your body, what you will put on.

¹² But before all this, they will lay their hands on you and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues and prisons. And you will be brought before kings and governors for my name's sake. ¹³ This will turn into an opportunity for you to bear testimony. ¹⁴ Therefore settle it in your minds not to meditate beforehand how you will answer;

⁵ On the next day, their rulers and elders and scribes were gathered together in Jerusalem; ⁶ and Annas the high priest was there, and Caiaphas and John and Alexander, and all who were of the high-priestly family. ⁷ And when they had set them in the midst, they began to inquire, "By what power or by what name did you do this?"

²⁷ When they had brought them, they set them before the council. The high priest questioned them, ²⁸ saying, "We gave you strict orders not to teach in this name, and yet, you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching and intend to bring this man's blood upon us." ²⁹ But Peter and the apostles answered, "We must obey God rather than men. ³⁰ The God of our fathers raised Jesuswhom you had killed by hanging him on a tree. ³¹ God exalted him to his own right hand as Prince and Savior, to give repentance and forgiveness of sins to Israel. ³² We are witnesses of these things, and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey him."

⁹ Then some of those who belonged to the synagogue of the Freedmen (as it was called), and of the Cyrenians, and of the Alexandrians, and of those from Cilicia and Asia, arose and disputed with Stephen. ¹⁰ But they could not stand against the wisdom and the Spirit with which he spoke. ¹¹ Then they secretly induced men to say, "We have heard him speak blasphemous words against Moses and against God." ¹² They stirred up the people and the elders and the scribes, and they came on him and seized him, and brought him before the council. ¹³ They put forward false witnesses who said, "This man never stops speaking against this holy place, and the law; ¹⁴ for we have heard him say that this Jesus of Nazareth will destroy this place, and will change the customs which Moses handed down to us." ¹⁵ And fixing their gaze on him, all who were sitting in the Council saw that his face was like the face of an angel.
