³ Simon Peter said to them, "I am going fishing." They said to him, "We will go with you." They went out and got into the boat; but that night they caught nothing.

¹⁸ As Jesus was walking by the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon who is called Peter and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen. ¹⁹ And he said to them, "Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men." ²⁰ Immediately they left their nets and followed him.

⁵ And Simon answered, "Master, we toiled all night and caught nothing! But at your word I will let down the nets."

¹⁰ and so also were James and John, the sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. And Jesus said to Simon, "Do not be afraid. From now on you will catch men." ¹¹ So when they had brought their boats to land, they left everything and followed him.

³ and because he was of the same trade he stayed with them, and they worked, for by trade they were tentmakers.

³⁴ You yourselves know that these hands ministered to my own needs and to the men who were with me.

We were not idle when we were with you, ⁸ nor did we eat anyone's bread without paying for it, but with labor and hardship we worked night and day so that we would not be a burden to any of you. ⁹ We did this, not because we do not have the right to such help, but in order to make ourselves an example for you to follow.
