¹ For I want you to know how greatly I strive for you, and for those at Laodicea, and for all who have not seen my face in the flesh,

⁴⁴ And being in agony, he prayed more earnestly, and his sweat became like drops of blood falling to the ground.

²⁵ And now, behold, I know that all of you among whom I have gone about preaching the kingdom will see my face no more.

³⁸ grieving most of all over the word which he had spoken, that they would not see his face again. And they accompanied him to the ship.

²⁴ Now I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake, and in my flesh I do my share for the sake of his body, which is the church, in filling up what is lacking in Christ's afflictions.

²⁹ For this end I labor, striving with all his energy, which so mightily works within me.

⁵ For even though I am absent in flesh, nevertheless I am with you in spirit, rejoicing to see your good order and the firmness of your faith in Christ.

¹² Epaphras, who is one of your number, a servant of Jesus Christ, sends you his greetings, always laboring earnestly for you in his prayers, that you may stand mature and fully assured in all the will of God. ¹³ I testify for him that he has worked hard for you and for those who are in Laodicea and Hierapolis.

¹⁵ Give my greetings to the brethren at Laodicea, and to Nympha and the church in her house. ¹⁶ When this letter has been read among you, have it also read in the church of the Laodiceans; and see that you read the letter from Laodicea.

² but after we had already suffered and been shamefully treated in Philippi, as you know, we had the boldness in our God to speak to you the gospel of God in the face of great opposition.

⁷ In the days of his flesh, Jesus offered up prayers and supplications, with loud cries and tears, to the one who was able to save him from death, and he was heard because of his godly fear.

⁸ Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and rejoice with an inexpressible and glorious joy,

¹¹ saying, "Write in a book what you see, and send it to the seven churches: to Ephesus and to Smyrna and to Pergamum and to Thyatira and to Sardis and to Philadelphia and to Laodicea."

¹⁴ "And to the angel of the church in Laodicea write: 'These are the words of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of God's creation: ¹⁵ I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot! ¹⁶ So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spit you out of my mouth. ¹⁷ You say, "I am rich; I have become wealthy, and have need of nothing"and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked, ¹⁸ Therefore I counsel you to buy from me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich; and white garments to clothe you, and to keep the shame of your nakedness from being seen; and salve to anoint your eyes, that you may see. ¹⁹ Those whom I love, I rebuke and chasten. So be zealous and repent. ²⁰ Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If any one hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me. ²¹ To him who overcomes, I will grant to sit with me on my throne, as I also overcame and sat down with my Father on his throne. ²² He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.'"
