¹⁶ Now Pharaoh hastened to call for Moses and for Aaron and said: I have sinned against Yahweh your Elohim and against you. ¹⁷ And now, I pray, bear with my sin only this time, and make an entreaty to Yahweh your Elohim that he may take away from over me but this death!"

⁴⁰ If they will confess their depravity and the depravity of their fathers in their offense (when they had offended Me and, indeed, when they had gone contrary to M. ⁴¹ so that I Myself also went contrary to them and brought them into the land of their enemies), if then their uncircumcised heart should submit, and if then they should accept their depravity, ⁴² then I will remember My covenant with Jacob and also My covenant with Isaac; also My covenant with Abraham shall I remember, and the land shall I remember.

¹³ And Samuel comes in unto Saul, and Saul said to him, `Blessed [are] you of Yahweh; I have performed the word of Yahweh..

²⁴ And Saul said unto Samuel, `I have sinned, for I passed over the command of Yahweh, and your words; because I have feared the people, I also hearken to their voice;"

³⁰ And he said, `I have sinned; now, honor me, I pray you, before the elders of my people, and before Israel, and turn back with me; and I have bowed myself to Yahweh your Elohim..

⁴⁷ and they have turned [it] back unto their heart in the land whither they have been taken captive, and have turned back, and made supplication unto You, in the land of their captors, saying, We have sinned and done perversely--we have done wickedly;" ⁴⁸ yea, they have turned back unto You, with all their heart, and with all their soul, in the land of their enemies who have taken them captive, and have prayed unto You the way of their land, which You gave to their fathers, the city which You have chosen, and the house which I have builded for Your name. ⁴⁹ `Then You have heard in the heavens, the settled place of Your dwelling, their prayer and their supplication, and have maintained their cause,

³³ If I have covered up my transgression like Adam, By burying my depravity in my lap,

²⁷ He shall sing before mortals and say, I have sinned and depraved what is upright, Yet He did not compensate it fully to me.

³ When I kept silent toward You, my bones became worn out With my roaring the entire day." ⁴ For by day and night, Your hand was heavy upon me; My freshness was turned into the droughts of summer. {Interlude{ " ⁵ I am now acknowledging my sin to You, And I do not cover over my depravity. ¹ {A Davidic Psalm{ {When Nathan the prophet came to him after he had come to Bath-sheba.{ Be gracious to me, O Elohim, according to Your benignity; According to Your many compassions wipe out my transgressions." ² Rinse me abundantly from my depravity, And from my sin cleanse me." ³ For I acknowledge my transgressions, And my sin is in front of me continually." ⁴ Against You, against You alone have I sinned And done what is evil in Your eyes, So that You may be justified when You speak, And be cleared when You judge." ⁵ Behold, I was with depravity when I was travailed in birth, And in sin when my mother conceived me."

¹⁰ Create for me a clean heart, O Elohim, And renew within me an established spirit."

¹² Hatred, it rouses up quarrels, Yet love covers over all transgressions."

⁹ He who covers a transgression seeks love, Yet he who repeats the matter parts one from his mentor."

²² But though you do wash with nitre, And do multiply to yourself soap, Marked is your iniquity before Me, An affirmation of the Lord Yahweh." ²³ How say you, `I have not been defiled, After the Baalim I have not gone?' See your way in a valley, know what you have done, A swift dromedary winding her ways,

¹² Go, and you have proclaimed these words toward the north, and have said, Turn back, O backsliding Israel, An affirmation of Yahweh! I cause not Mine anger to fall upon you, For I [am] kind, an affirmation of Yahweh, I watch not to the eon." ¹³ Only, know your iniquity, For against Yahweh your Elohim you have transgressed, And you do scatter your ways to strangers, Under every green tree, And to My voice you have not hearkened, An affirmation of Yahweh."

²⁰ And while I am speaking-- praying and confessing my sin and the sin of my people Israel and casting my supplication before Yahweh my Elohim concerning the holy mountain of my Elohim-- ²¹ even while I am speaking in my prayer, behold, the man Gabriel, whom I saw in the vision at the start, flying swiftly, is touching me at the time of the evening approach present." ²² And he is approaching and speaking with me, saying, "Daniel, now I fare forth to give you an intelligent understanding." ²³ At the start of your supplications a word from Yahweh fared forth, and I come to tell you, for a man of coveted qualities are you. "Then understand what is in the word and understand what is in the sight."

⁶ and they were baptized in the Jordan river by him, confessing their sins. ⁷ Now, perceiving many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming to his baptism, he said to them, "Progeny of vipers! Who intimates to you to be fleeing from the impending indignation? ⁸ Produce, then, fruit worthy of repentance. ⁹ And you should not be presuming to be saying among yourselves, 'For a father we have Abraham,' for I am saying to you that able is God, out of these stones to rouse children to Abraham. ¹⁰ "Yet already the ax is lying at the root of the trees. Every tree, then, which is not producing ideal fruit is hewn down and cast into the fire.

²⁵ Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for you are cleansing the outside of the cup and the plate, yet inside they are brimming with rapacity and incontinence." ²⁶ Blind Pharisee! Cleanse first the inside of the cup and the plate, that their outside also may be becoming clean!" ²⁷ Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for you are resembling the whitewashed sepulchers which outside, indeed, are appearing beautiful, yet inside they are crammed with the bones of the dead and all uncleanness." ²⁸ Thus you, also, outside, indeed, are appearing to men to be just, yet inside you are distended with hypocrisy and lawlessness."

⁴ saying, "I sinned in giving up innocent blood.Yet they said, "What is it to us? You should be seeing to that!" ⁵ And, tossing the silver pieces into the temple, he retires, and, coming away, strangles himself."

¹⁸ Rising, I will go to my father and declare to him, "Father, I sinned against heaven and in your sight." ¹⁹ No longer am I worthy to be called your son. Make me as one of your hired men."'" ²⁰ And rising, he came to his father. "Now, at his being still far away, his father perceived him and has compassion, and running, falls on his neck and fondly kisses him." ²¹ Now the son said to him, 'Father, I sinned against heaven and in your sight. No longer am I worthy to be called your son. Make me as one of your hired men.'" ²² Yet the father said to his slaves, 'Quick! Bring forth the first robe, and put it on him, and give him a ring for his hand and sandals for his feet." ²³ And bring the grain-fed calf, sacrifice it, and, eating, we may make merry, ²⁴ for this my son was dead and revives; he was lost and was found.' And they begin to make merry.

²⁰ but first to those in Damascus, besides in Jerusalem also, besides to the entire province of Judea, and to the nations, I reported that they are to be repenting and turning back to God, engaging acts worthy of repentance."

⁸ If we should be saying that we have no sin we are deceiving ourselves, and the truth is not in us." ⁹ If we should be avowing our sins, He is faithful and just that He may be pardoning us our sins and should be cleansing us from all injustice." ¹⁰ If we should be saying that we have not sinned, we are making Him a liar, and His word is not in us."
