¹⁶ For the righteous one shall fall seven times and still rise, Yet the wicked shall be stumbled by evil."

¹⁷ A wicked messenger casts one into peril, Yet a faithful agent brings healing."

³² The wicked man is tripped up by his evil, Yet the righteous one takes refuge in his integrity."

¹⁴ Happy is the man who is in awe continually, Yet he whose heart is obstinate shall fall into peril." ¹⁵ A growling lion and a prowling bear--Such is a wicked ruler over a poor people. ¹⁶ A governor attempting many extortions lacks comprehension, But one who hates greed shall prolong his days." ¹⁷ A man threatened by shedding the blood of a soul shall flee until descending to the crypt. Let them not uphold him. ¹⁸ He who walks flawlessly shall be kept in safety, Yet he whose ways are perverse shall fall into a pit."

² The virgin of Israel falls, no more to rise; she is abandoned on her ground; there is no one raising her up."

¹⁴ who swear by the guilt of Samaria and say, Living is your Elohim, O Dan! And living is the way of Beer-sheba! Yet they will fall and will not rise again."

⁸ You must not rejoice against me, O my enemy. Though I fall, I shall rise. Though I am sitting in darkness, Yahweh shall be light for me." ⁹ The turbulence of Yahweh I will bear, for I have sinned against Him, till He is contending my contention, and shall execute my judgment. He will bring me forth to the light; I shall see by His righteousness." ¹⁰ Then my enemy shall see, and shame will cover her, the one saying to me:Where is Yahweh your Elohim? My eyes shall see her. Now, shall she come to be for tramping as the mud of the streets."

²³ Now instantly a messenger of the Lord smites him, because he gives not the glory to God, and, becoming the food of worms, he gives up his soul."

⁸ For we do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning our affliction which came to us in the province of Asia, that we were inordinately burdened, over our ability, so that we were despairing of life also." ⁹ But we have the rescript of death in ourselves, that we may be having no confidence in ourselves, but in God, Who rouses the dead, ¹⁰ Who rescues us from a death of such proportions, and will be rescuing; on Whom we rely that He will still be rescuing also;"

⁸ In everything, being afflicted, but not distressed; perplexed, but not despairing;" ⁹ persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not perishing -" ¹⁰ always carrying about in the body the deadening of Jesus, that the life also of Jesus may be manifested in our body." ¹¹ For we who are living are ever being given up to death because of Jesus, that the life also of Jesus may be manifested in our mortal flesh." ¹² So that death is operating in us, yet life in you."

²³ Servants of Christ are they? (Being insane, I am speaking.) Above them am I! In weariness more exceedingly, in jails more exceedingly, in blows inordinatley, in deaths often. " ²⁴ By Jews five times I got forty save one. ²⁵ Thrice am I flogged with rods, once am I stoned, thrice am I shipwrecked, a night and a day have I spent in a swamp, " ²⁶ in journeys often, in dangers of rivers, in dangers of robbers, in dangers of my race, in dangers of the nations, in dangers in the city, in dangers in the wilderness, in dangers in the sea, in dangers among false brethren; " ²⁷ in toil and labor, in vigils often, in famine and thirst, in fasts often, in cold and nakedness; "

³ Now whenever they may be saying "Peace and security,then extermination is standing by them unawares, even as a pang over the pregnant, and they may by no means escape."

²⁰ Make merry over her, O heaven, and ye saints and apostles and prophets, seeing that God judges by passing your sentence upon her." ²¹ And one strong messenger lifts a stone, as large as a millstone, and casts it into the sea, saying that "Thus Babylon, the great city, will be hurled down, and nevermore be found in it."
