²³ and, now, turn aside the elohims of the stranger which [are] in your midst, and incline your heart unto Yahweh, Elohim of Israel..

² And saying is Jacob to his household and to all who are with him, "Take away the foreign elohim which are in your midst, and clean yourselves, and change your garments. ³ And rise will we and go up to Beth-El, and make will I there an altar to the El Who answered me in the day of my distress, and came to stand by me and saved me in the way which I went. ⁴ And giving are they to Jacob all the foreign elohim which are in their hand, and the pendants which are in their ears. And burying them is Jacob under the terebinth which is at Shechem.

²³ You shall not make anything beside Me: no elohim of silver nor elohim of gold shall you make for yourselves.

¹⁴ `And now, fear you Yahweh, and serve Him, in perfection and in truth, and turn aside the elohims which your fathers served beyond the River, and in Egypt, and serve you Yahweh;"

¹⁵ And the sons of Israel say unto Yahweh, `We have sinned, do You to us according to all that is good in Your eyes; only deliver us, we pray You, this day.. ¹⁶ And they turn aside the elohims of the stranger out of their midst, and serve Yahweh, and His soul is grieved with the misery of Israel.

³ And Samuel speaks unto all the house of Israel, saying, `If with all your heart you are turning back unto Yahweh--turn aside the elohims of the stranger from your midst, and Ashtaroth; and prepare your heart unto Yahweh, and serve Him only, and He does deliver you out of the hand of the Philistines.. ⁴ And the sons of Israel turn aside the Baalim and Ashtaroth, and serve Yahweh alone;"

⁵⁸ to incline our heart unto Himself, to walk in all His ways, and to keep His commands, and His statutes, and His judgments, which He commanded our fathers;"

³⁶ Stretch out my heart to Your testimonies, And not at all to selfish gain."

⁴ O do not turn my heart aside to evil speaking, To practice activities in wickedness with men who are contrivers of lawlessness. And may I dine not at all on their pleasant things;"

² Attending with your ear to wisdom, And you stretch out your heart to comprehension,

² Take words with you and return to Yahweh, your Elohim; say to Him:Wilt You bear away all the depravity? Take the good, and we will repay with the fruit of our lips." ³ Assyria will not save us; we will not ride on the horse. Nor shall we still say, Our elohim, to the work of our hands. For in You, the orphan is being shown compassion."

⁸ Ephraim--what are grief fetishes to him any longer? I humble him, and am controlling him. I am as a flourishing fir. Your fruit is found to be from Me."

¹⁹ What, then, am I averring? That an idol sacrifice is anything? Or that an idol is anything? ²⁰ But that that which the nations are sacrificing, they are sacrificing to demons and not to God. Now I do not want you to become participants with the demons." ²¹ You can not drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons. You can not be partaking of the table of the Lord and the table of demons.

¹⁶ Now what concurrence has a temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God, according as God said, that I will be making My home and will be walking in them, and I will be their God, and they shall be My people." ¹⁷ Wherefore, Come out of their midst and be severed, the Lord is saying. And touch not the unclean, and I will admit you, ¹⁸ and I will be a Father to you, and you shall be sons and daughters to Me, says the Lord Almighty."

²⁸ Wherefore, accepting an unshakable kingdom, we may have grace through which we may be offering divine service in a way well pleasing to God, with piety and dread, ²⁹ for our God is also a consuming fire.
