²⁹ When they abase, then you may claim pride, For He shall save the downcast of eyes.

¹⁹ In six distresses He shall rescue you, And in seven, evil shall not touch you. ²⁰ In famine, He will ransom you from death, And in battle from the hands of the sword. ²¹ From scourge of tongue shall you be hidden, And you shall not fear devastation when it comes. ²² Devastation and starvation shall you ridicule, And you shall certainly not fear the wild animal of the earth. ²³ For you will have a covenant with the stones of the field, And the wild animal of the field will be at peace with you. ²⁴ You will know that your tent lies in peace, And you will check over your homestead and shall not miss anything. ²⁵ You will know also that your seed will be abundant, And your offspring like the herbage of the earth. ²⁶ You shall come to the tomb in mature age, Like a shock of grain that ascends in its season. ²⁷ Behold this, we have investigated it; it is so; Do hear it; and you, get to know it for yourself.

² I will rejoice and be glad in You; I will make melody to Your Name, O Supreme. ³ When my enemies are reversed backward, They shall stumble and perish from Your presence,

¹⁴ Because he is attached to Me, I shall deliver him; I shall make him impregnable, for he knows My Name." ¹⁵ He shall call on Me, and I shall answer him; I am with him in distress; I shall liberate him and glorify him." ¹⁶ With length of days shall I satisfy him, And I shall show him My salvation."

⁹ For behold, Your enemies, O Yahweh, For behold, Your enemies, they shall perish! All contrivers of lawlessness shall be routed!" ¹⁰ Yet You shall exalt my horn like that of a wild bull; You will empower me with flourishing oil. ¹¹ And my eye shall look upon those lying in wait for me; My ears shall hear of the evildoers rising against me.

⁶ Though Yahweh is exalted, yet He discerns the lowly, And He knows the haughty one from afar."

²³ A man's pride abases him, Yet he who is lowly of spirit shall take firm hold of glory."

¹⁵ For thus says Yahweh, high and lifted up, who tabernacles the future, and holy is His name:"In the high and holy place am I tabernacling, and with the crushed and lowly spirit, to preserve alive the spirit of the lowly, and to preserve alive the heart of the crushed."

² Yet all these were made by My hand, and all these are coming to be Mine,averring is Yahweh. "Yet to this one will I look:to the humble and smitten spirit, and he who trembles at My word."

²⁶ Thus said the Lord Yahweh:Turn aside the mitre, and bear away the crown, This--not this--the low make high, And the high make low." ²⁷ An overturn, overturn, overturn, I make it, Also this has not been till the coming of Him, Whose [is] the judgment, and I have given it."

¹² Yet anyone who shall be exalting himself shall be humbled, and anyone who shall be humbling himself shall be exalted."

⁵² He pulls down potentates from thrones, And exalts the humble."

¹¹ For everyone exalting himself shall be humbled, and humbling himself shall be exalted."

⁹ Now He said, also, to some who have confidence in themselves that they are just, and are scorning the rest, this parable:" ¹⁰ Two men went up into the sanctuary to pray, the one a Pharisee, and the other a tribute collector." ¹¹ The Pharisee, standing, prayed this to himself: 'God, I am thanking you that I am not even as the rest of men, rapacious, unjust, adulterers, or even as this tribute collector." ¹² I am fasting twice of a sabbath. I am taking tithes from all whatever I am acquiring.' ¹³ Now the tribute collector, standing afar off, would not even lift up his eyes to heaven, but beat his chest, saying, 'God, make a propitiatory shelter for me, the sinner!' " ¹⁴ I am saying to you, this man descended to his home justified, rather than that one, for everyone who is exalting himself shall be humbled, yet he who is humbling himself shall be exalted."

⁶ Yet greater is the grace He is giving. Wherefore He is saying, God "the proud is resisting, yet to the humble He is giving grace."

⁵ Likewise, younger men may be subject to the elder, yet all wear the servile apron of humility with one another, for God "is resisting the proud, yet is giving grace to the humble."
