⁸ Suddenly has Babylon fallen, Yea, it is broken, howl you for it, Take balm for her pain, if so be it may be healed."

⁶ Howl! For near is the day of Yahweh! As devastation from Him Who-Suffices shall it come. ⁷ Therefore all hands shall be slack, and every mortal's heart shall melt"

⁹ And behold this! Coming is a chariot with men, a pair of horsemen! And he is responding and saying, `Fallen! Fallen is Babylon! And all the carvings and her forbidden idols are broken to the earth.'"

⁹ Yet now these two shall come to you in a moment; in one day, bereavement and widowhood, suddenly they shall come on you in your many enchantments, in the staunchness of your magic charms, exceedingly."

²² Is there no balm in Gilead? Is there no physician there? For wherefore has not the health of the daughter of my people gone up?

¹² For thus said Yahweh:Incurable is your breach, grievous your stroke, ¹³ There is none judging your cause to bind up, Healing medicines there are none for you." ¹⁴ all loving you have forgotten you, You they do not seek, For with the stroke of an enemy I smote you, The chastisement of a fierce one, Because of the abundance of your iniquity, Mighty have been your sins!" ¹⁵ What! --you cry concerning your breach! Incurable [is] your pain, Because of the abundance of your iniquity, Mighty have been your sins! I have done these to you."

¹¹ Go up to Gilead, and take balm, O virgin daughter of Egypt, In vain you have multiplied medicines, Healing there is none for you."

²⁰ Put to shame has been Moab, For it has been broken down, Howl and cry, declare you in Arnon, For spoiled is Moab,

³¹ Therefore for Moab I howl, even for Moab--all of it, I cry for men of Kir-Heres, it does mourn,

² `Declare you among nations, and sound, And lift up an ensign, sound, do not hide, Say you:Captured has been Babylon, Put to shame has been Bel, Broken has been Merodach, Put to shame have been her grievous things, Broken have been her idols."

⁴¹ How has Sheshach been captured, Yea, caught is the praise of the whole earth, How has Babylon been for an astonishment among nations."

³⁰ And have sounded for you with their voice, And cry bitterly, and cause dust to go up on their heads, In ashes they do roll themselves." ³¹ And they have made for you baldness, And they have girded on sackcloth, And they have wept for you, In bitterness of soul--a bitter mourning." ³² And lifted up for you have their sons a lamentation, And they have lamented over you, who [is] as Tyre? As the cut-off one in the midst of the sea?

² `Son of man, prophesy, and you have said:Thus said the Lord Yahweh:Howl you, ha! for the day!"

²⁴ From before Him then is being sent the fingertip of that hand and is this writing signified.

³¹ And Darius the Mede received the kingdom, being about sixty-two years old."

¹⁹ There is no dimming of your breaking; your blow is ailing. All hearing the report of you will clasp hands over you, for over whom did not your evil pass continually?

⁸ And another, a second messenger, follows, saying, "It falls! It falls! Babylon the great has made all nations drink of the wine of the fury of her prostitution!"

² And he cries with a strong voice, saying, "It falls! It falls! Babylon the great! And it became the dwelling place of demons and the jail of every unclean spirit and the cage of every unclean and hateful bird,

⁸ Therefore in one day shall her calamities be arriving; death and mourning and famine. And she shall be burned up with fire, for strong is the Lord God Who judges her." ⁹ And the kings of the earth, who commit prostitution and indulge with her, will be lamenting and grieving over her whenever they may be observing the smoke of her conflagration, ¹⁰ standing afar off because of the fear of her torment, saying, 'Woe! Woe! that great city! Babylon, the strong city! for in one hour your judging came.'" ¹¹ And the merchants of the earth are lamenting and mourning over her, for no one is buying their cargo any longer:"

¹⁷ for in one hour was desolated so much riches!' "And every navigator, and every one who is sailing at the place, and mariners and whoever are working on the sea, stand afar off, ¹⁸ and, observing the smoke of her conflagration, they cried, saying, 'Is there any like this great city?'" ¹⁹ And they cast soil on their heads, and cried, lamenting and mourning, saying, 'Woe! Woe! the great city, by which all who have ships on the sea are rich as a result of its preciousness, for in one hour it was desolated!'"
