² `Thus said Yahweh, Elohim of Israel:Go, and you have spoken unto Zedekiah king of Judah, and have said unto him, Thus said Yahweh:Lo, I am giving this city into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he has burned it with fire,

¹¹ A son of twenty and one years [is] Zedekiah in his reigning, and eleven years he has reigned in Jerusalem;" ¹² and he does the evil thing in the eyes of Yahweh his Elohim, he has not been humbled before Jeremiah the prophet [speaking] from the mouth of Yahweh;"

⁴ Thus said Yahweh, Elohim of Israel:Lo, I am turning round the weapons of battle That [are] in your hand, With which you do fight the king of Babylon, And the Chaldeans, who are laying siege against you, At the outside of the wall, And I have gathered them into the midst of this city,

¹⁰ For I have set My face against this city for evil, And not for good--an affirmation of Yahweh. Into the hand of the king of Babylon it is given, And he has burned it with fire."

¹ Thus said Yahweh, `Go down [to] the house of the king of Judah, and you have spoken there this word, and have said, ² Hear a word of Yahweh, O king of Judah, who are sitting on the throne of David, you, and your servants, and your people, who are coming in at these gates,

³ Where Zedekiah king of Judah has shut him up, saying, `Wherefore are you prophesying, saying, Thus said Yahweh, Lo, I am giving this city into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he has captured it;"

²⁸ `Therefore, thus said Yahweh, Lo, I am giving this city into the hand of the Chaldeans, and into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, and he has captured it;" ²⁹ And come in have the Chaldeans who are fighting against this city, and they have set this city on fire, and have burned it, and the houses on whose roofs they made perfume to Baal, and poured out libations to other elohims, so as to provoke Me to anger."

²² Lo, I am commanding--an affirmation of Yahweh--and have brought them back unto this city, and they have fought against it, and captured it, and burned it with fire, and the cities of Judah I do make a desolation--without inhabitant.'"

¹ And reign does king Zedekiah son of Josiah instead of Coniah son of Jehoiakim whom Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon had caused to reign in the land of Judah, ² and he has not hearkened, he, and his servants, and the people of the land, unto the words of Yahweh, that He spoke by the hand of Jeremiah the prophet." ³ And Zedekiah the king sends Jehucal son of Shelemiah, and Zephaniah son of Maaseiah the priest, unto Jeremiah the prophet, saying, `Pray, we beseech you, for us unto Yahweh our Elohim.'" ⁴ And Jeremiah is coming in and going out in the midst of the people, (and they have not put him in the prison-house),

⁸ and the Chaldeans have turned back, and fought against this city, and captured it, and burnt it with fire." ⁹ `Thus said Yahweh:Lift not up your souls saying, The Chaldeans surely go from off us, for they do not go;" ¹⁰ for though you had smitten all the force of the Chaldeans who are fighting with you, and there were left of them wounded men--each in his tent--they rise, and have burnt this city with fire.'"

²³ `And all your wives, and your sons, are brought forth unto the Chaldeans, and you do not escape from their hand, for by the hand of the king of Babylon you are caught, and this city is burnt with fire.'"

⁸ And the house of the king, and the house of the people, have the Chaldeans burnt with fire, and the walls of Jerusalem they have broken down."
