⁹ And I have given them for a trembling, For evil--to all kingdoms of the earth, For a reproach, and for a simile, For a byword, and for a reviling, In all the places whither I drive them."

²⁵ Yahweh shall make you to be struck down before your enemies. By a single road shall you go forth to them, and by seven roads shall you flee before them. So you will become an object of commotion to all the kingdoms of the earth.

³⁷ You will become an object of astonishment, a proverb and a byword among all the peoples where Yahweh shall lead you.

⁶⁵ And among those nations you shall neither find respite, nor shall there be a resting place for the sole of your foot, and Yahweh will give to you there a disturbed heart, a failure of the eyes and pining of the soul. ⁶⁶ Then your lives will come to be hung in suspense in front of you. You will be afraid by night and by day, and you shall not put trust in your lives. ⁶⁷ In the morning you shall say:O that it were evening! And in the evening you shall say:O that it were morning! because of the awe of your heart with which you shall be afraid and because of the sight of your eyes which you shall see.

⁷ then I have cut off Israel from the face of the ground that I have given to them, and the house that I have hallowed for My name I send away from My presence, and Israel has been for a simile and for a byword among all the peoples;"

²⁰ and this house that I have sanctified for My name, I cast from before My face, and make it for a proverb, and for a byword, among all the peoples.

¹³ You constitute us a reproach to our neighbors, A derision and a scoffing to those round about us." ¹⁴ You constitute us a proverbial byword among the nations, A shaking of the head among the national groups."

¹⁸ He clothed himself with malediction as his coat; May it enter within him like water, And like oil into his bones." ¹⁹ May it be upon him like a cloak with which he is muffled, And like a cordon that he girds about him continually."

¹⁵ And you leave your name for an oath to My chosen.And you are put to death by my Lord Yahweh; yet He shall call His servants by another name."

⁴ And I have given them for a trembling To all kingdoms of the earth, Because of Manasseh son of Hezekiah king of Judah, For that which he did in Jerusalem."

⁸ and I have made this city for a desolation, and for a hissing, every passer by it is astonished, and does hiss for all its plagues."

¹⁸ Jerusalem, and the cities of Judah, And its kings, its heads, To give them to waste, to astonishment, To hissing, and to reviling, as [at] this day."

⁶ Then I have given up this house as Shiloh, and this city I give up for a reviling to all nations of the earth.'"

¹⁸ And I have pursued after them with sword, with famine, and with pestilence, and have given them for a trembling to all kingdoms of the earth, for a curse and for an astonishment, and for a hissing, and for a reproach among all the nations whither I have driven them,

²² And taken from them has been a reviling by all the removed of Judah that [are] in Babylon, saying, Yahweh does set you as Zedekiah, and as Ahab, whom the king of Babylon roasted with fire;"

¹⁷ `Therefore, thus said Yahweh:You have not hearkened unto Me to proclaim freedom, each to his brother, and each to his neighbor; lo, I am proclaiming to you liberty--an affirmation of Yahweh--unto the sword, unto the pestilence, and unto the famine, and I have given you for a trembling to all kingdoms of the earth."

¹⁸ for thus said Yahweh of Hosts, Elohim of Israel:As poured out has been Mine anger and My fury on the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so poured out is My fury upon you in your entering Egypt, and you have been for an execration, and for an astonishment, and for a reviling, and for a reproach, and you do not see any more this place."

¹² and I have taken the remnant of Judah, who have set their faces to enter the land of Egypt to sojourn there, and they have all been consumed in the land of Egypt; they fall by sword, by famine they are consumed, from the least even unto the greatest, by sword and by famine they die, and they have been for an execration, for an astonishment, and for a reviling, and for a reproach."

²² And Yahweh is not able any more to accept [you], because of the evil of your doings, because of the abominations that you have done, and your land is for a waste, and for an astonishment, and for a reviling, without inhabitant, as [at] this day."

¹⁵ They slap their palms at you, all who pass your way; They hiss and jerk their head to and fro at the daughter of Jerusalem:Is this the city which they call the consummation of loveliness, the elation of the entire earth? ¹⁶ They open their mouth wide at you, all your enemies; They hiss and gnash their teeth; they say, We have swallowed them up! Yea, this is the day that we expected; we have come upon it and have seen it!" ¹⁷ Yahweh has done what He had planned; He has carried through His saying, What He determined from days long ago; He has demolished and has not spared; And He is making the enemy rejoice over you; He exalts the horn of your foes."

¹ `And you, son of man, take to you a sharp weapon, the barber's razor you do take to you, and you have caused [it] to pass over your head, and over your beard, and you have taken to you weighing scales, and apportioned them." ² A third part with fire you do burn in the midst of the city, at the fulness of the days of the siege; and you have taken the third part, you do smite with a weapon round about it; and the third part you do scatter to the wind, and a weapon I draw out after them."

¹² Your third part--by pestilence they die, And by famine are consumed in your midst, And the third part, by sword they fall round about you, And the third part, to every wind I scatter, And a sword I draw out after them." ¹³ And completed has been Mine anger, And I have caused My fury to rest on them, And I have been comforted, And they have known that I, Yahweh, have spoken in My zeal, In My completing My fury on them."

³ and you have said to the sons of Ammon:Hear you a word of the Lord Yahweh:Thus said the Lord Yahweh:Because of your saying, Aha, to My sanctuary, Because it has been polluted, And unto the ground of Israel, Because it has been desolate, And unto the house of Judah, Because they have gone into a removal:"

² Because that Tyre has said of Jerusalem:Aha, she has been broken, the doors of the peoples, She has turned round unto me, I am filled--she has been laid waste,

² Thus said the Lord Yahweh:Because the enemy said against you, Aha, and the high places of old for a possession have been to us, ³ therefore, prophesy, and you have said:Thus said the Lord Yahweh:Because, even because, of desolating, And of swallowing you up from round about, For your being a possession to the remnant of the nations, And you are taken up on the tip of the tongue, And [are] an evil report of the people."
