² Be still! Dwellers of the coastland. The merchant of Sidon, passing over the sea, filled you,

¹⁰ Relax and know that I am Elohim; I shall be exalted among the nations; I shall be exalted in the earth.

¹ Renewed before Me shall be the coastlanders, and folkstems shall vary their vigor. Close shall they come. Then shall they speak. We will draw near together for judgment."

⁵ Sit still, and come into darkness, daughter of the Chaldeans, for no more shall they call you, `Mistress of the kingdoms.'"

³ O dweller on the entrances of the sea, Merchant of the peoples unto many isles, Thus said the Lord Yahweh:O Tyre, you--you have said:I [am] the perfection of beauty." ⁴ In the heart of the seas [are] your borders, Your builders have perfected your beauty."

⁸ Inhabitants of Zidon and Arvad have been rowers to you, Your wise men, O Tyre, have been in you, They [are] your pilots." ⁹ Elders of Gebal and its wise men have been in you, Strengthening your breach; All ships of the sea and their mariners, Have been in you, to trade [with] your merchandise." ¹⁰ Persian and Lud and Phut Have been in your forces--your men of war. Shield and helmet they hung up in you, They--they have given out your honor." ¹¹ The sons of Arvad, and your force, [Are] on your walls round about, And short swordsmen in your towers have been, Their shields they have hung up on your walls round about, They--they have perfected your beauty." ¹² Tarshish [is] your merchant, Because of the abundance of all wealth, For silver, iron, tin, and lead, They have given out your remnants." ¹³ Javan, Tubal, and Meshech--they [are] your merchants, For persons of men, and vessels of brass, They have given out your merchandise." ¹⁴ They of the house of Togarmah, [For] horses, and riding steeds, and mules, They have given out your remnants." ¹⁵ Sons of Dedan [are] your merchants, Many isles [are] the mart of your hand, Horns of ivory and ebony they sent back your reward." ¹⁶ Aram [is] your merchant, Because of the abundance of your works, For emerald, purple, and embroidery, And fine linen, and coral, and agate, They have given out your remnants." ¹⁷ Judah and the land of Israel--they [are] your merchants, For wheat of Minnith, and Pannag, And honey, and oil, and balm, They have given out your merchandise." ¹⁸ Damascus [is] your merchant, For the abundance of your works, Because of the abundance of all wealth, For wine of Helbon, and white wool." ¹⁹ Vedan and Javan go about with your remnants, They have given shining iron, cassia, and cane, In your merchandise it has been." ²⁰ Dedan [is] your merchant, For clothes of freedom for riding." ²¹ Arabia, and all princes of Kedar, They [are] the traders of your hand, For lambs, and rams, and he-goats, In these your merchants." ²² Merchants of Sheba and Raamah--they [are] your merchants, For the chief of all spices, And for every precious stone, and gold, They have given out your remnants." ²³ Haran, and Canneh, and Eden, merchants of Sheba, Asshur--Chilmad--[are] your merchants, ²⁴ They [are] your merchants for perfect things, For wrappings of blue, and embroidery, And for treasuries of rich apparel, With cords bound and girded, for your merchandise, ²⁵ Ships of Tarshish [are] your double walls of your merchandise, And you are filled and honored greatly, In the heart of the seas." ²⁶ Into great waters have they brought you, Those rowing you, The east wind has broken you in the heart of the seas." ²⁷ Your wealth and your remnants, Your merchandise, your mariners, And your pilots, strengtheners of your breach, And the traders of your merchandise, And all your men of war, who [are] in you, And in all your assembly that [is] in your midst, Fall into the heart of the seas in the day of your fall, ²⁸ At the voice of the cry of your pilots shake do the suburbs. ²⁹ And come down from their ships have all handling an oar, Mariners, all the pilots of the sea, on the land they stand, ³⁰ And have sounded for you with their voice, And cry bitterly, and cause dust to go up on their heads, In ashes they do roll themselves." ³¹ And they have made for you baldness, And they have girded on sackcloth, And they have wept for you, In bitterness of soul--a bitter mourning." ³² And lifted up for you have their sons a lamentation, And they have lamented over you, who [is] as Tyre? As the cut-off one in the midst of the sea? ³³ With the outgoing of your remnants from the seas, You have filled many peoples, With the abundance of your riches, and your merchandise, You have made rich things of earth." ³⁴ The time of [your] being broken by the seas in the depths of the waters, Your merchandise and all your assembly in your midst have fallen." ³⁵ All inhabitants of the isles have been astonished at you, And their kings have been sore afraid, They have been troubled in countenance." ³⁶ Merchants among the peoples have shrieked for you, Wastes you have been, and you are not--to the eon!'"

² `Son of man, say to the leader of Tyre:Thus said the Lord Yahweh:Because your heart has been high, And you do say:A el I [am], The habitation of Elohim I have inhabited, In the heart of the seas, And you [are] man, and not El, And you give out your heart as the heart of Elohim,

²⁰ Yet Yahweh is in His holy temple! Hist! all the earth, because of His presence!"
