²² And I rise against them,averring is Yahweh of hosts. "And I cut off from Babylon the name and remnant, and propagator and progeny,averring is Yahweh."

¹⁰ `Therefore, lo, I am bringing in evil unto the house of Jeroboam, and have cut off to Jeroboam those sitting on the wall--shut up and left--in Israel, and have put away the posterity of the house of Jeroboam, as one puts away the dung till its consumption;"

¹⁶ From beneath, his roots dry up, And from above, his harvest branches are snipped off. ¹⁷ His remembrance perishes from the earth, And he has no name on the face of the open place. ¹⁸ They shall thrust him from light into darkness, And they shall chase him from the habitance. ¹⁹ For him there is no posterity and no progeny among his people, And there will be no survivor in the places of his sojourning.

⁷ The memory of the righteous one is a blessing, Yet the name of the wicked shall rot away."

⁵ coming from a land afar, from the end of the heavens, Yahweh and the instruments of His menace, to harm the entire earth."

⁹ And behold this! Coming is a chariot with men, a pair of horsemen! And he is responding and saying, `Fallen! Fallen is Babylon! And all the carvings and her forbidden idols are broken to the earth.'"

¹⁴ Thus says Yahweh, your Redeemer, The Holy One of Israel:"On your account I send to Babylon and I bring down the fugitives, all of them, and the Chaldeans, in ships of their jubilation."

⁹ Yet now these two shall come to you in a moment; in one day, bereavement and widowhood, suddenly they shall come on you in your many enchantments, in the staunchness of your magic charms, exceedingly." ¹⁰ And you are trusting in your knowledge. You are saying, `No one is seeing me.' Your wisdom and your knowledge, it turns you back. And you are saying in your heart, `I, and only I, further!'" ¹¹ And evil comes on you. And you are not knowing of the pitfall. And woe shall fall on you. You cannot shelter yourself from it. And coming on you is devastation, and you cannot become clear. And coming on you suddenly is futility, when you shall not know it." ¹² Then stand, pray, by your magic charms, and by your many enchantments, with which you were acquainted from your youth until today. Perhaps you can benefit! Perhaps you will be staunch!" ¹³ You are tired with your many counsels. Standing, pray, are they, and saving you are the astrologers, the seers of visions in the stars, the informers for new moons, from the things which are coming on you? ¹⁴ Behold! They all become as straw. Fire shall burn them up. They shall not rescue their soul from the hand of the blaze. It is no ember to warm them, or light to sit in front of."

²⁶ Come you in to her from the extremity, Open you her storehouses, Raise her up as heaps, and devote her, Let her have no remnant." ²⁷ Slay all her kine, they go down to slaughter, Woe [is] on them, for come has their day, The time of their inspection."

²⁹ Summon unto Babylon archers, all treading the bow, Encamp against her round about, Let [her] have no escape; Recompense to her according to her work, According to all that she did--do to her, For unto Yahweh she has been proud, Unto the Holy One of Israel." ³⁰ Therefore fall do her young men in her broad places, And all her men of war are cut off in that day, An affirmation of Yahweh." ³¹ Lo, I [am] against you, O pride, An affirmation of the Lord Yahweh of Hosts, For your day has come, the time of your inspection." ³² And stumbled has pride, And he has fallen, and has no raiser up, And I have kindled a fire in his cities, And it has devoured all round about him." ³³ Thus said Yahweh of Hosts:Oppressed are the sons of Israel, And the sons of Judah together, And all their captors have kept hold on them, They have refused to send them away." ³⁴ Their Redeemer [is] strong, Yahweh of Hosts [is] His name, He does thoroughly plead their cause, So as to cause the land to rest, And He has given trouble to the inhabitants of Babylon." ³⁵ A sword [is] for the Chaldeans, An affirmation of Yahweh, And it [is] on the inhabitants of Babylon, And on her heads, and on her wise men;"

³ Let not the treader tread his bow, Nor lift himself up in his coat of mail, Nor have you pity on her young men, Devote you to destruction all her host." ⁴ And fallen have the wounded in the land of the Chaldeans, And the pierced-through in her streets."

⁵⁶ For come in against it--against Babylon--has a spoiler, And captured have been its mighty ones, Broken have been their bows, For the El of recompences--Yahweh--does certainly repay." ⁵⁷ And I have caused its princes to drink, And its wise men, its governors, And its prefects, and its mighty ones, And they have slept a sleep eonian, And they awake not--an affirmation of the king, Yahweh of Hosts [is] His name."

⁶² and have said:Yahweh, You, You have spoken concerning this place, to cut it off, that there is none dwelling in it, from man even unto cattle, for it is a desolation eonian." ⁶³ And it has come to pass, when you do finish reading this book, you do bind to it a stone, and have cast it into the midst of Phrat, ⁶⁴ and said, Thus sink does Babylon, and it does not arise, because of the evil that I am bringing in against it, and they have been weary.' Hitherto [are] words of Jeremiah."
