2 `Son of man, put forth a riddle, and use a simile unto the house of Israel,

Judges 9:8-15

8 `The trees have diligently gone to anoint over them a king, and they say to the olive, Reign you over us. 9 And the olive said to them, Have I ceased from my fatness, by which they honor elohims and men, that I have gone to stagger over the trees? 10 And the trees say to the fig, Come you, reign over us. 11 And the fig said to them, Have I ceased from my sweetness, and my good increase, that I have gone to stagger over the trees? 12 `And the trees say to the vine, Come you, reign over us. 13 And the vine said to them, Have I ceased from my new wine, which is rejoicing elohims and men, that I have gone to stagger over the trees? 14 And all the trees say unto the bramble, Come you, reign over us. 15 And the bramble said unto the trees, If in truth you are anointing me for king over you, come, take refuge in my shadow; and if not--fire comes out from the bramble, and devours the cedars of Lebanon.

Judges 14:12-19

12 And Samson said to them, `Let me, I pray you, put forth to you a riddle; if you certainly declare it to me [in] the seven days of the banquet, and have found [it] out, then I have given to you thirty linen shirts, and thirty changes of garments;" 13 and if you are not able to declare [it] to me, then you have given to me thirty linen shirts, and thirty changes of garments.' And they say to him, `Put forth your riddle, and we hear it!. 14 And he said to them:`Out of the eater came forth meat, And out of the strong came forth sweetness;' and they were not able to declare the riddle [in] three days. 15 And it comes to pass, on the seventh day, that they say to Samson's wife, `Entice your husband, that he declare to us the riddle, lest we burn you and the house of your father with fire; to possess us have you called for us? is it not?. 16 And Samson's wife weeps for it, and said, `You have only hated me, and have not loved me; the riddle you have put forth to the sons of my people--and to me you have not declared it;' and he said to her, `Lo, to my father and to my mother I have not declared [it] --and to you I declare [it]!. 17 And she weeps for it the seven days [in] which their banquet has been, and it comes to pass on the seventh day that he declares [it] to her, for she has distressed him; and she declares the riddle to the sons of her people. 18 And the men of the city say to him on the seventh day, before the sun goes in:--`What [is] sweeter than honey? And what stronger than a lion?' And he said to them:`Unless you had ploughed with my heifer, You had not found out my riddle.. 19 And the Spirit of Yahweh prospers over him, and he goes down to Ashkelon, and smites of them thirty men, and takes their armor, and gives the changes to those declaring the riddle; and his anger burns, and he goes up to the house of his father;"

2 Samuel 12:1-4

1 And Yahweh sends Nathan unto David, and he comes unto him, and said to him:`Two men have been in one city; One rich and one poor;" 2 The rich has flocks and herds very many; 3 And the poor one has nothing, Except one little ewe-lamb, Which he has bought, and keeps alive, And it grows up with him, And with his sons together; Of his morsel it eats, And from his cup it drinks, And in his bosom it lies, And it is to him as a daughter;" 4 And there comes a traveller to the rich man, And he spares to take Of his own flock, and of his own herd, To prepare for the traveller Who has come to him, And he takes the ewe-lamb of the poor man, And prepares it for the man Who has come unto him..

Ezekiel 20:49
