³ May the day perish in which I was born, And the night that said, Behold, a master!" ⁴ That day! may it be darkness; Let not Eloah from above inquire of it, And let not a light beam shine on it. ⁵ May darkness and the blackest shadow sully it; May a cloud tabernacle over it; May rolling fogs of the day frighten it. ⁶ That night! may gloom take hold of it; May it not be one of the days of the year; In the numbering of the months, may it not enter. ⁷ Behold, that night! may it be stark; Let no jubilation enter into it. ⁸ May those cursing the day revile it, Who are equipped to rouse the dragon. ⁹ May the stars of its gloaming be darkened; May it expect light and there be none, And let it not see the eyelids of the dawn. ¹⁰ For it did not close the doors of my mother's belly Or conceal misery from my eyes.

⁶ And I am making My vineyard into a chaos, and it is not being pruned. And not being hoed, and up come buckthorn and spines. And I am instructing the thick clouds over it to keep from raining rain on it."

⁵ Arrange the table! Watch, yea, watch! Eat! Drink! Rise, chiefs! Anoint the shield!"

¹⁴ Cursed [is] the day in which I was born, The day that my mother bare me, Let it not be blessed!" ¹⁵ Cursed [is] the man who bore tidings [to] my father, saying, `Born to you has been a child--a male,' Making him very glad!" ¹⁶ Then has that man been as the cities, That Yahweh overthrew, and repented not, And he has heard a cry at morning, And a shout at time of noon."

¹⁵ Thus said the Lord Yahweh:In the day of his going down to sheol I have caused mourning, I have covered for him the deep, and diminish its flowings, And restrained are many waters, And I make Lebanon black for him, And all trees of the field have been covered for him."

⁹ The approach present and the libation are cut off from the house of Yahweh! The priests, ministers of Yahweh's altar, mourn!"

¹⁴ Who is knowing, if He will return and regret, and let a blessing remain behind Him, an approach present and a libation for Yahweh, your Elohim?
