2 Samuel 16:1 Cross References - CLV

¹ And David has passed on a little from the top, and lo, Ziba, servant of Mephibosheth--to meet him, and a couple of asses saddled, and upon them two hundred loaves, and a hundred bunches of raisins, and a hundred [of] summer-fruit, and a bottle of wine.

³ `And you have passed on thence, and beyond, and have come in unto the oak of Tabor, and found you there have three men going up unto Elohim to Beth-El, one bearing three kids, and one bearing three cakes of bread, and one bearing a bottle of wine,

²⁰ And Jesse takes an ass, [with] bread, and a bottle of wine, and one kid of the goats, and sends by the hand of David his son unto Saul.

¹⁷ And Jesse said to David his son, `Take, I pray you, to your brethren, an ephah of this roasted [corn], and these ten loaves, and run to the camp to your brethren;" ¹⁸ and these ten cuttings of the cheese you do take in to the head of the thousand, and your brethren you do inspect for welfare, and their pledge do receive..

¹⁸ And Abigail hastes, and takes two hundred loaves, and two bottles of wine, and five sheep, prepared, and five measures of roasted corn, and a hundred bunches of raisins, and two hundred bunches of figs, and sets [them] on the asses.

² And the house of Saul has a servant, and his name [is] Ziba, and they call for him unto David; and the king said unto him, `Are you Ziba?' and he said, `Your servant.. ³ And the king said, `Is there not yet a man to the house of Saul, and I do with him the kindness of Elohim?' And Ziba said unto the king, `Jonathan has yet a son--lame.. ⁴ And the king said to him, `Where [is] he?' and Ziba said unto the king, `Lo, he [is] in the house of Machir, son of Ammiel, in Lo-Debar.. ⁵ And king David sends, and takes him out of the house of Machir son of Ammiel, of Lo-Debar, ⁶ and Mephibosheth son of Jonathan, son of Saul, comes unto David, and falls on his face, and does obeisance, and David said, `Mephibosheth;' and he said, `Lo, your servant.. ⁷ And David said to him, `Be not afraid; for I certainly do with you kindness because of Jonathan your father, and have given back to you all the field of Saul your father, and you do eat bread at my table continually.. <sup>8</sup> And he bows himself, and said, `What [is] your servant, that you have turned unto the dead dog--such as I?. ⁹ And the king calls unto Ziba servant of Saul, and said unto him, `All that was to Saul and to all his house, I have given to the son of your lord, <sup>10</sup> and you have served for him the land, you and your sons, and your servants, and have brought in, and there has been to the son of your lord bread, and he has eaten it; and Mephibosheth son of your lord does eat continually bread at my table;' and Ziba has fifteen sons and twenty servants. <sup>11</sup> And Ziba said unto the king, `According to all that my lord the king commands his servant, so does your servant;' as to Mephibosheth, `he is eating at my table ([said the king]) as one of the sons of the king.. ¹² And Mephibosheth has a young son, and his name [is] Micha, and every one dwelling in the house of Ziba [are] servants to Mephibosheth. ¹³ And Mephibosheth is dwelling in Jerusalem, for at the table of the king he is eating continually, and he [is] lame of his two feet.

³⁰ And David is going up in the ascent of the olives, going up and weeping, and he has the head covered, and he is going barefooted, and all the people who [are] with him have covered each his head, and have gone up, going up and weeping;"

³² And it comes to pass, David has come unto the top, where he bows himself to Elohim, and lo, to meet him [is] Hushai the Archite, his coat rent, and earth on his head;"

²⁷ And it comes to pass at the coming in of David to Mahanaim, that Shobi, son of Nahash, from Rabbah of the Bene-Ammon, and Machir son of Ammiel, from Lo-Debar, and Barzillai the Gileadite, from Rogelim, ²⁸ couch, and basin, and earthen vessel, and wheat, and barley, and flour, and roasted [corn], and beans, and lentiles, and roasted [pulse], ²⁹ and honey, and butter, and sheep, and cheese of kine, have brought nigh for David, and for the people who [are] with him to eat, for they said, `Your people [is] hungry, and weary, and thirsty, in the wilderness..

³² and Barzillai [is] very aged, a son of eighty years, and he has sustained the king in his abiding in Mahanaim, for he [is] a very great man;"

⁴⁰ And also those near unto them, unto Issachar, and Zebulun, and Naphtali, are bringing in bread on asses, and on camels, and on mules, and on oxen--food of fine flour, fig-cakes and grape-cakes, and wine, and oil, and oxen, and sheep, in abundance, for joy [is] in Israel.

¹⁶ A man's gift widens the way for him, And guides him before the great."

⁴ A king by right judgment makes a country stand firm, Yet a man greedy for heave offerings pulls it down." ⁵ A master who is slick of tongue toward his associate Is one who spreads a net for his footsteps.

¹⁰ and I, lo, I am dwelling in Mizpah, to stand before the Chaldeans who are come in unto us, and you, gather you wine, and summer fruit, and oil, and put in your vessels, and dwell in your cities that you have taken.'"

¹² and all the Jews from all the places whither they have been driven, turn back and enter the land of Judah, unto Gedaliah, to Mizpah, and they gather wine and summer fruit--very much."

¹ Thus my Lord Yahweh shows me:And behold! a crate of summer fruit.

¹ Alack to me! For I become as the gatherings of the straw of the harvest, as the clean-gleanings of the vintage. There is no cluster to eat; my soul yearns for the firstfruit."
