¹⁷ And after the death of Jehoiada come in have heads of Judah, and bow themselves to the king; then has the king hearkened unto them,

²⁷ for I know your rebellion and your scruff of obstinacy. Behold in my day, while I am still with you alive, you have been rebellious against Yahweh, indeed, how much more so after my death!"

⁸ And he forsakes the counsel of the aged men that they counselled him, and consults with the lads who have grown up with him, those standing before him, ⁹ and he said unto them, `What are you counselling, and we answer this people that have spoken unto me, saying, Make light [somewhat] of the yoke that your father put upon us?. <sup>10</sup> And the lads who have grown up with him, speak with him, saying, `Thus do you say to the people who have spoken unto you, saying, Your father made our yoke heavy, and you, make light [somewhat] of our yoke; thus do you say unto them, My little finger is thicker than the loins of my father;"

³ he also has walked in the ways of the house of Ahab, for his mother has been his counsellor to do wickedly. ⁴ And he does the evil thing in the eyes of Yahweh, like the house of Ahab, for they have been his counsellors, after the death of his father, for destruction to him.

²¹ She turned him aside with her great influence; With slick words on her lips she induced him. ²² Suddenly he was going after her, Like a bull that comes to the slaughter, Like a calf to the bonds of foolish creatures, ²³ Until an arrow thrusts through his liver, As through a bird that hastened to the snare When it did not know that it was set for its soul."

¹⁹ He who goes about as a defamer reveals secret deliberation, And so you should not mix with one who entices with his lips."

⁸ Like tying up a stone in a slingshot, So is the giving of glory to the stupid one."

²⁸ A false tongue hates those crushed by it, And a slick mouth works degradation."

⁵ A master who is slick of tongue toward his associate Is one who spreads a net for his footsteps.

¹² If a ruler attends to the word of falsehood, All his ministers will be wicked."

³² And those who condemn the covenant will he pollute with slickness. Yet the people knowing their Elohim will be steadfast and act accordingly.

²⁹ Now I am aware that, after I am out of reach, burdensome wolves will be entering among you, not sparing the flocklet." ³⁰ And from among yourselves will arise men, speaking perverse things to pull away disciples after themselves."

¹⁵ Yet I shall endeavor to have you, after my exodus, to make mention of these things, ever and anon, also."
