1 Samuel 8:5 Cross References - CLV

⁵ and say unto him, `Lo, you have become aged, and your sons have not walked in your ways; now, appoint to us a king, to judge us, like all the nations..

⁹ For from the summit of the rocks I am seeing him, and from the hills I am regarding him. Behold, the people is tabernacling by itself alone, and among the nations it is not reckoning itself.

¹⁴ When you come to the land that Yahweh your Elohim is giving to you, and you tenant it and dwell in it, and you say:Let me set a king over me like all the nations who are around me, ¹⁵ then you shall set, yea set over you a king whom Yahweh your Elohim shall choose. From among your brothers shall you set a king over you. You cannot put over you a foreign man who is not of your brothers.

⁶ And the thing is evil in the eyes of Samuel, when they have said, `Give to us a king to judge us;' and Samuel prays unto Yahweh. <sup>7</sup> And Yahweh said unto Samuel, `Hearken to the voice of the people, to all that they say unto you, for you they have not rejected, but Me they have rejected, from reigning over them. ⁸ According to all the works that they have done from the day of My bringing them up out of Egypt, even unto this day, when they forsake Me, and serve other elohims--so they are doing also to you.

¹⁹ And the people refuse to hearken to the voice of Samuel, and say, `Nay, but a king is over us, ²⁰ and we have been, even we, like all the nations; and our king has judged us, and gone out before us, and fought our battles..

¹⁷ is it not wheat-harvest to-day? I call unto Yahweh, and He does give voices and rain; and know you and see that your evil is great which you have done in the eyes of Yahweh, to ask for you a king..

¹⁰ Where is your king? Whereat, that he will save you in all your cities? And your judges to whom you said, Give me a king and chiefs? ¹¹ I am giving you a king in My anger, and I am taking him away in My rage."

²¹ And thence they request a king, and God gives them Saul, son of Kish, a man out of the tribe of Benjamin, forty years."
