⁸ Be sober! Watch! For your plaintiff, the Adversary, is walking about as a roaring lion, seeking someone to swallow up;"

⁵ And Samson goes down--also his father and his mother, to Timnath, and they come unto the vineyards of Timnath, and lo, a lion's whelp roars at meeting him,

⁶ Esther replied:The man, the foe and enemy, is this evil Haman. Haman was frightened before the king and the queen.

⁶ There was a day when the sons of Elohim would come to station themselves before Yahweh, and Satan came also in their midst. ⁷ Yahweh said to Satan, From where are you coming? Then Satan answered Yahweh and said, From going to and fro in the earth and from walking about in it.

² Yahweh said to Satan, From where are you coming? Then Satan answered Yahweh and said, From going to and fro in the earth and from walking about in it.

²¹ The sheltered lions roaring for prey And seeking their food from El.

⁶ Post a wicked person over him, And let an adversary stand at his right hand."

¹² The ire of a king is like the growling of a sheltered lion, Yet his benevolence is like night mist on herbage."

² Dread inspired by a king is a growling like that of a sheltered lion; He who enrages him sins against his own soul.

²⁹ Its roaring is like the parent lion's; and the tumult like the sheltered lions, and he is growling and holding the prey, and there is no retrieving or rescuing." ³⁰ And he is growling over him in that day as the growling of the billowing sea. And behold! Darkness, distress, and the light is kept back in terror."

¹² How you have fallen from the heavens! Howl, son of the dawn! You are hacked down to the earth, defeater of all nations!" ¹³ Yet you, you said in your heart, "To the heavens will I ascend! Above the stars of El will I raise high my throne, and I will sit in the mount of appointment, in the flanks of the north."

⁸ Near is my Justifier. Who will contend with me? We will stand together. Who possesses my judgment? He shall come close to me.

¹⁵ Against him roar do young lions, They have given forth their voice, And make his land become a desolation, His cities have been burnt without inhabitant."

³⁸ Together as young lions they roar, They have shaken themselves as lions' whelps."

⁷ And it knows his forsaken habitations, And their cities it has laid waste, And desolate is the land and its fulness, Because of the voice of his roaring."

²⁵ A conspiracy of its prophets [is] in its midst, as a roaring lion tearing prey; The soul they have devoured, Wealth and glory they have taken, Its widows have multiplied in its midst."

²⁴ Then the king speaks the word, and they bring hither these masters who had accused Daniel, and into the vault of the lions they heaved them, their wives, and their sons. Yet they do not reach the earth of the vault before the lions have them in their power and pulverize all their ribs."

¹⁰ They shall go after Yahweh. He shall roar as a lioness, for He shall roar! And the sons shall tremble from the sea;"

⁸ I will encounter them as a bereaved bear, and I will tear the enclosure of their heart, and I will devour them there as a parent lion; the field life shall rend them."

¹⁶ And Yahweh shall roar from Zion, and from Jerusalem shall He give forth His voice, and the heavens and the earth shall quake. Yet Yahweh is a refuge for His people, and a stronghold for the sons of Israel."

² And he is saying, Yahweh from Zion will roar! And from Jerusalem will He give forth His voice! And the oases of the graziers shall mourn, and the summit of Carmel shall be dry."

⁴ Will a lion roar in the wildwood, when there is no prey for him? Will a sheltered lion give forth his voice from his habitation, if he fails to seize anything?

⁸ The lion roars--who will not fear? My Lord Yahweh speaks--who will not prophesy?

¹ Then He is showing me Joshua, the great priest, standing before the messenger of Yahweh, and Satan, standing at his right, for his adversary."

³ The sound of the howling of the shepherds--for their nobility is devastated. The sound of the roaring of sheltered lions--for the pomp of the Jordan is devastated.

¹ Then Jesus was led up into the wilderness by the spirit to be tried by the Adversary.

¹¹ Then the Adversary is leaving Him. And lo! messengers approached and waited on Him.

³⁹ Now the enemy who sows them is the Adversary. Now the harvest is the conclusion of the eon. Now the reapers are messengers.

⁴² Be watching, then, for you are not aware on what day your Lord is coming."

⁴⁸ Now if that evil slave should be saying in his heart, 'Delaying is my lord,'" ⁴⁹ and should begin to beat his fellow slaves, yet may be eating and drinking with the drunken, ⁵⁰ the lord of that slave will be arriving on a day for which he is not hoping, and in an hour which he knows not,

⁴¹ Then shall He be declaring to those also at His left, 'Go from Me, you cursed, into the fire eonian, made ready for the Adversary and his messengers."

⁴⁵ Now if that slave should be saying in his heart, 'My lord is delaying his coming,' and should be beginning both to beat the boys and the maids and to be eating and drinking and to be drunk, ⁴⁶ the lord of that slave will be arriving on a day for which he is not hoping and at an hour which he does not know, and shall be cutting him asunder and shall be appointing his part with the unfaithful."

³⁴ Now take heed to yourselves, lest at some time your hearts should be burdened with crapulence and drunkenness and the worries of life's affairs, and that day may be standing by you unawares,

³⁶ Now be vigilant, on every occasion beseeching that you may be prevailing to escape all these things which are about to occur, and to stand in front of the Son of Mankind."

³¹ Now the Lord said, "Simon, Simon, lo! Satan claims you men, to sift you as grain."

⁴⁴ You are of your father, the Adversary, and the desires of your father you are wanting to do. He was a man-killer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, for truth is not in him. Whenever he may be speaking a lie, he is speaking of his own, for he is a liar, and the father of it."

¹¹ This, also, do, being aware of the era, that it is already the hour for us to be roused out of sleep, for now is our salvation nearer than when we believe." ¹² The night progresses, yet the day is near. We, then, should be putting off the acts of darkness, yet should be putting on the implements of light." ¹³ As in the day, respectably, should we be walking, not in revelries and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and jealousy,

²⁷ nor yet be giving place to the Adversary.

¹¹ Put on the panoply of God, to enable you to stand up to the stratagems of the Adversary,

⁶ Consequently, then, we may not be drowsing, even as the rest, but we may be watching and be sober." ⁷ For those who are drowsing are drowsing at night, and those who are drunk are drunk at night." ⁸ Yet we, being of the day, may be sober, putting on the cuirass of faith and love, and the helmet, the expectation of salvation,

⁹ Similarly, women also are to be adorning themselves in raiment, decorously, with modesty and sanity, not with braids and gold, or pearls or costly vesture,

¹⁵ Yet she shall be saved through the child bearing, if ever they should be remaining in faith and love and holiness with sanity."

² The supervisor, then, must be irreprehensible, the husband of one wife, sober, sane, decorous, hospitable, apt to teach,

¹¹ The wives, similarly, are to be grave, not adversaries, sober, faithful in all things."

¹⁷ May it not be reckoned against them! Yet the Lord stood beside me, and He invigorates me, that through me the heralding may be fully discharged, and all the nations should hear; and I am rescued out of the mouth of the lion."

⁸ but hospitable, fond of that which is good, sane, just, benign, self-controlled;"

² The aged men are to be sober, grave, sane, sound in the faith, in love, in endurance;"

⁴ that they may bring the young wives to a sense of their duty to be fond of their husbands, fond of their children,

⁶ The younger men, similarly, entreat to be sane as to all things,

¹² training us that, disowning irreverence and worldly desires, we should be living sanely and justly and devoutly in the current eon,

⁷ You may be subject, then, to God, yet withstand the Adversary, and he will be fleeing from you."

¹³ Wherefore, girding up the loins of your comprehension, being sober, expect perfectly the grace which is being brought to you at the unveiling of Jesus Christ."

⁷ Now the consummation of all is near. Be sane, then, and sober for prayers,

⁸ Yet he who is doing sin is of the Adversary, for from the beginning is the Adversary sinning. For this was the Son of God manifested, that He should be annulling the acts of the Adversary." ⁹ Everyone who is begotten of God is not doing sin, for His seed is remaining in him, and he can not be sinning, for he is begotten of God." ¹⁰ In this are apparent the children of God and the children of the Adversary: everyone who is not doing righteousness is not of God, and who is not loving his brother."

⁹ And the great dragon was cast out, the ancient serpent called Adversary and Satan, who is deceiving the whole inhabited earth. It was cast into the earth, and its messengers were cast with it."

¹² Therefore, make merry, ye heavens, and those tabernacling in them! Woe to the land and the sea, for the Adversary descended to you having great fury, being aware that brief is the season that he has."

² And he lays hold of the dragon, the ancient serpent, who is the Adversary and Satan, and binds him a thousand years."

¹⁰ And the Adversary who is deceiving them was cast into the lake of fire and sulphur, where the wild beast and where the false prophet are also. And they shall be tormented day and night for the eons of the eons."
