⁷ then I have cut off Israel from the face of the ground that I have given to them, and the house that I have hallowed for My name I send away from My presence, and Israel has been for a simile and for a byword among all the peoples;"

²⁴ Do not defile yourselves in any of these ways. For in all of these the nations which I am dismissing before your face are defiled. ²⁵ Since the land is unclean I shall visit its depravity on it, and the land shall vomit out its dwellers. ²⁶ As for you, you will observe My statutes and My judgments, and not do any of these abhorrences, either the native or the sojourner sojourning in your mids. ²⁷ (for the men of the land who were before you have done all these abhorrences, and the land is unclean), ²⁸ so that the land shall not vomit you out when you defile it, just as it vomited out the nations which were before you.

²⁶ I testify against you today by the heavens and the earth, that you shall perish, yea perish quickly off the land where you are crossing over the Jordan to tenant it. You shall not prolong your days on it, for you shall be exterminated, yea exterminated.

³⁷ You will become an object of astonishment, a proverb and a byword among all the peoples where Yahweh shall lead you.

²⁶ for they went off and served other elohim and bowed themselves down to them, elohim whom they had neither known, nor had He apportioned for them. ²⁷ Hence the anger of Yahweh grew hot against that land so as to bring upon it all the malediction that is written in this scroll. ²⁸ So Yahweh plucked them up off their ground in anger, in fury and in great wrath, and He flung them into another country as it is this day.

³ and Yahweh said unto him, `I have heard your prayer and your supplication with which you have made supplication before Me; I have hallowed this house that you have built to put My name there--unto the eon, and Mine eyes and My heart have been there all the days.

²⁰ And Yahweh kicks against all the seed of Israel, and afflicts them, and gives them into the hand of spoilers, till that He has cast them out of His presence, ²¹ for He has rent Israel from the house of David, and they make Jeroboam son of Nebat king, and Jeroboam drives Israel from after Yahweh, and has caused them to sin a great sin, ²² and the sons of Israel walk in all the sins of Jeroboam that he did, they have not turned aside therefrom, ²³ till that Yahweh has turned Israel aside from His presence, as He spoke by the hand of all His servants the prophets, and Israel is removed from off its land to Asshur, unto this day.

⁹ and he burns the house of Yahweh, and the house of the king, and all the houses of Jerusalem, yea, every great house he has burned with fire;"

²¹ and the king of Babylon smites them, and puts them to death in Riblah, in the land of Hamath, and he removes Judah from off its land.

²⁰ and this house that I have sanctified for My name, I cast from before My face, and make it for a proverb, and for a byword, among all the peoples.

¹⁹ And they burn the house of Elohim, and break down the wall of Jerusalem, and all its palaces they have burnt with fire, and all its desirable vessels--to destruction.

¹ And it comes to pass, when Sanballat has heard that we are building the wall, that it is displeasing to him, and he is very angry and mocks at the Jews, ² and said before his brethren and the force of Samaria, yea, he said, `What [are] the weak Jews doing? are they left to themselves? do they sacrifice? do they complete in a day? do they revive the stones out of the heaps of the rubbish? --and they burnt!. <sup>3</sup> And Tobiah the Ammonite [is] by him and said, `Also, that which they are building--if a fox does go up, then it has broken down their stone wall.. ⁴ Hear, O our Elohim, for we have been despised; and turn back their reproach on their own head, and give them for a spoil in a land of captivity;"

¹⁴ You constitute us a proverbial byword among the nations, A shaking of the head among the national groups."

¹⁵ And you leave your name for an oath to My chosen.And you are put to death by my Lord Yahweh; yet He shall call His servants by another name."

⁴ Do not trust for yourselves Unto the words of falsehood, saying, The temple of Yahweh, the temple of Yahweh, The temple of Yahweh [are] they!" ⁵ For, if you do thoroughly amend your ways and your doings, If you do judgment thoroughly Between a man and his neighbor, ⁶ Sojourner, fatherless, and widow, you oppress not, And innocent blood do not shed in this place, And after other elohims do not walk, for evil to yourselves, ⁷ Then I have caused you to dwell in this place, In the land that I gave to your fathers, From eon even unto eon." ⁸ Lo, you are trusting for yourselves On the words of falsehood, so as not to profit." ⁹ Stealing, murdering, and committing adultery, And swearing to falsehood, and giving perfume to Baal, And going after other elohims whom you knew not." ¹⁰ And you have come in and stood before Me, In this house on which My name is called, And have said, `We have been delivered,' In order to do all these abominations." ¹¹ A den of burglars has this house, On which My name is called, been in your eyes? Even I, lo, I have seen, an affirmation of Yahweh." ¹² But go you, I pray you, Unto My place that [is] in Shiloh, Where I caused My name to dwell at first, And see that which I have done to it, For the wickedness of My people Israel." ¹³ And now, because of your doing all these works, An affirmation of Yahweh, And I speak unto you, rising early and speaking, And you have not hearkened, And I call you, and you have not answered, ¹⁴ I also to the house on which My name is called, In which you are trusting, And to the place that I gave to you, and to your fathers, Have done, as I have done to Shiloh." ¹⁵ And I have cast you from before My face, As I have cast out all your brethren, The whole seed of Ephraim."

⁹ And I have given them for a trembling, For evil--to all kingdoms of the earth, For a reproach, and for a simile, For a byword, and for a reviling, In all the places whither I drive them."

⁶ Then I have given up this house as Shiloh, and this city I give up for a reviling to all nations of the earth.'"

¹⁸ `Micah the Morashtite has been prophesying in the days of Hezekiah king of Judah, and he said unto all the people of Judah, saying:Thus said Yahweh of Hosts:Zion is a plowed field, and Jerusalem is heaps, And the mountain of the house is for high places of a forest."

¹³ and he burns the house of Yahweh, and the house of the king, and all the houses of Jerusalem, even every great house he has burned with fire,

⁶ He is casting down His booth as in a garden; He has ruined His appointed festivals; Yahweh has made appointed festivals and sabbath forgotten in Zion, And in the indignation of His anger He is spurning king and priest." ⁷ Yahweh has cast off His altar; He has disowned His sanctuary; He has surrendered the walls of her citadels into the hand of the enemy. They have raised their voice in the House of Yahweh as on the day of an appointed festival.

¹⁵ They slap their palms at you, all who pass your way; They hiss and jerk their head to and fro at the daughter of Jerusalem:Is this the city which they call the consummation of loveliness, the elation of the entire earth? ¹⁶ They open their mouth wide at you, all your enemies; They hiss and gnash their teeth; they say, We have swallowed them up! Yea, this is the day that we expected; we have come upon it and have seen it!"

²¹ Say to the house of Israel:Thus said the Lord Yahweh:Lo, I am polluting My sanctuary, The excellency of your strength, The desire of your eyes, and the pitied of your soul, And your sons and your daughters whom you have left, by sword they do fall."

²⁷ Thus do you say unto them:Thus said the Lord Yahweh:I live--do not they who [are] in the wastes by the sword fall? And they who [are] on the face of the field, To the beast I have given for food, And they who are in strongholds and in caves by pestilence die." ²⁸ And I have made the land a desolation and an astonishment, And ceased has the excellency of its strength, And desolated have been mountains of Israel, Without any one passing through." ²⁹ And they have known that I [am] Yahweh, In My making the land a desolation and an astonishment, For all their abominations that they have done."

¹⁷ Between the portico and the altar shall the priests lament. The ministers of Yahweh then shall say, Commiserate, Yahweh, over Your people, and You must not give Your allotment to reproach, that the nations rule among them. Why shall they say among the peoples, Where is their Elohim?

¹² Wherefore, due to you, Zion shall be plowed as a field, and Jerusalem shall become rubbish heaps, and the mountain of the house fane heights of a wildwood."

² Yet He, answering, said to them, "Are you not observing all these? Verily, I am saying to you, Under no circumstances may a stone here be left on a stone, which shall not be demolished."

²⁴ And they shall be falling by the edge of the sword and shall be led into captivity into all nations. And Jerusalem shall be trodden by the nations, until the eras of the nations may be fulfilled."
