² And Sherezer and Arbeseer the king and his men sent to Bethel, to entreat the favor of the Lord,

¹¹ And Moses prayed before the Lord God, and said, Why, O Lord, are You very angry with Your people, whom You have brought out of the land of Egypt with great strength, and with Your mighty arm?

¹² Then I said, Now will the Philistines come down to me to Gilgal, and I have not sought the face of the Lord. So I forced myself and offered the whole burnt offering.

⁶ And King Jeroboam said to the man of God, Intreat the Lord your God, and let my hand be restored to me. And the man of God intreated the Lord, and He restored the king's hand to him, and it became as before.

¹⁰ that they may offer sacrifices of sweet aroma to the God of heaven, and that they may pray for the life of the king and his sons.

¹⁵ And for the house of the Lord there has been sent silver and gold, which the king and the counselors have freely given to the God of Israel, who dwells in Jerusalem. ¹⁶ And all the silver and gold, whatsoever you shall find in all the land of Babylon, with the freewill offering of the people, and the priests that offer freely for the house of God which is in Jerusalem. ¹⁷ And as for everyone that arrives there, speedily order him by this letter to bring calves, rams, lambs, and their grain offerings, and their drink offerings; and you shall offer them on the altar of the house of your God which is in Jerusalem. ¹⁸ And whatever seems good to you and to your brothers to do with the rest of the silver and the gold, do as it is pleasing to your God. ¹⁹ And deliver the vessels that are given to you for the service of the house of God, before God in Jerusalem. ²⁰ And as to the rest of the needs of the house of your God, you shall give from the king's treasure houses, ²¹ and from me, whatever seems good to you to give. I, King Artaxerxes have made a decree for all the treasuries that are in the country beyond the river, that whatever Ezra the priest and scribe of the God of heaven may require of you, let it be done diligently, ²² to the amount of a hundred talents of silver, and a hundred measures of wheat, and a hundred baths of wine, and a hundred baths of oil, and salt without reckoning. ²³ Let whatever is in the decree of the God of heaven be done. Take heed lest anyone make an attack against the house of the God of heaven, lest at any time there shall be wrath against the realm of the king and his sons.

²⁸ And I said to them, You are holy to the Lord; and the vessels are holy; and the silver and the gold are freewill offerings to the Lord God of our fathers. ²⁹ Be watchful and keep them, until you weigh them before the chief priests and the Levites, and the chiefs of families in Jerusalem, at the chambers of the house of the Lord. ³⁰ So the priests and the Levites took the weight of the silver, and the gold, and the vessels, to bring to Jerusalem into the house of our God.

⁷ And all the flocks of Kedar shall be gathered, and the rams of Nebaioth shall come; and acceptable sacrifices shall be offered on My altar, and My house of prayer shall be glorified.

¹⁹ Did Hezekiah and all Judah in any way kill him? Was it not that they feared the Lord, and they made supplication before the Lord, and the Lord relented from the doom which He had pronounced against them? But we have wrought great evil against our own souls.

¹⁰ Take the things of the captivity from the chief men, and from the useful men of it, and from them that have understood it; and you shall enter in that day into the house of Josiah the son of Zephaniah that came out of Babylon.

²¹ and the inhabitants of five cities shall come together to one city, saying, Let us go to make supplication to the Lord, and to seek the face of the Lord Almighty; I will go also.
