²³ Thus says the Lord Almighty; In those days My word shall be fulfilled if ten men of all the languages of the nations should take hold — even take hold of the hem of a Jew, saying, We will go with you; for we have heard that God is with you.

³⁷ He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me.

²⁴ Then Jesus said to His disciples, "If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.

²² But when the young man heard the word, he went away grieved, for he had many possessions.

²¹ Then Jesus, looking at him, loved him, and said to him, "One thing you lack: Go, sell all that you have, and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, take up the cross, and follow Me." ²² But having become gloomy at this saying, he went away grieving, for he had many possessions.

⁶⁶ From this time many of His disciples turned back and no longer would walk with Him. ⁶⁷ Then Jesus said to the twelve, "Do you also want to go away?" ⁶⁸ But Simon Peter answered Him, "Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. ⁶⁹ Also we have come to believe and know that You are the Christ, the Son of the living God."
