² The Lord builds up Jerusalem; and He will gather together the dispersed of Israel.

³ then the Lord shall heal your iniquities, and shall pity you, and shall again gather you out from all the nations, among which the Lord has scattered you.

⁶⁴ And all the congregation together were about forty-two thousand three hundred and sixty; ⁶⁵ besides their male and female servants, and these were seven thousand three hundred and thirty-seven. And among these were two hundred men and women singers.

¹ And these are the heads of their families, the leaders that went up with me in the reign of Artaxerxes the king of Babylon: ² Of the sons of Phinehas, Gershom; of the sons of Ithamar, Daniel; of the sons of David; Hattush. ³ Of the sons of Shecaniah, and the sons of Parosh; Zechariah; and with him a company of a hundred and fifty men. ⁴ Of the sons of Pahath-Moab, Eliehoenai the son of Zerahiah, and with him two hundred males. ⁵ And of the sons of Zatho, Shechaniah the son of Jahaziel, and with him three hundred males. ⁶ And of the sons of Adin, Ebed the son of Jonathan, and with him fifty males. ⁷ And of the sons of Elam, Jeshaiah the son of Athaliah, and with him seventy males. ⁸ And of the sons of Shephatiah, Zebadiah the son of Michael, and with him eighty males. ⁹ And of the sons of Joab, Obadiah the son of Jehiel, and with him two hundred and eighteen males. ¹⁰ And of the sons of Banni, Shelomith the son of Josiphiah, and with him a hundred and sixty males. ¹¹ And of the sons of Bebai, Zechariah the son of Bebai, and with him twenty-eight males. ¹² And of the sons of Azgad, Johanan the son of Hakkatan, and with him a hundred and ten males. ¹³ And of the sons of Adonikam were the last, and these were their names, Eliphelet, Jeiel, and Shemaiah, and with them sixty males. ¹⁴ And of the sons of Bigvai, Uthai and Zabbud, and with him seventy males.

¹ Then Eliashib the high priest rose up with his brothers the priests, and built the Sheep Gate; they sanctified it, and set up the doors of it; even to the Tower of the Hundred they sanctified it, to the Tower of Hananel. ² And they built by the side of the men of Jericho, and by the side of the sons of Zacchur, the son of Imri. ³ And the sons of Hassenaah built the Fish Gate; they roofed it, and covered in its doors, and bolts, and bars. ⁴ And next to them the order reached to Meremoth the son of Urijah, the son of Koz, and next to them Meshullam son of Berechiah the son of Meshezebel took his place; and next to them Zadok the son of Baana took his place. ⁵ And next to them the Tekoites took their place; but the Adorim did not put their shoulders to their service. ⁶ And Jehoiada the son of Paseah, and Meshullam son of Besodeiah, repaired the old gate; they covered it in, and set up its doors, and its bolts, and its bars. ⁷ And next to them Melatiah the Gibeonite, and Jadon the Meronothite, the men of Gibeon and Mizpah, made repairs to the throne of the governor on this side the river. ⁸ And next to him Uzziel the son of Harhaiah of the smiths, carried on the repairs. And next to them Hananiah the son of one of the perfumers made repairs, and they finished Jerusalem to the broad wall. ⁹ And next to them repaired Rephaiah the son of Hur, the ruler of half the district round about Jerusalem. ¹⁰ And next to them repaired Jedaiah the son of Harumaph, and that in front of his house. And next to him repaired Hattush son of Hashabniah. ¹¹ And next to him repaired Malchijah son of Harim, and Hashub son of Pahath-Moab, even to the Tower of the Ovens. ¹² And next to him repaired Shallum the son of Hallohesh, the ruler of half the district round about Jerusalem, he and his daughters. ¹³ Hanun and the inhabitants of Zanoah repaired the gate of the valley; they built it, and set up its doors, and its bolts, and its bars, and a thousand cubits of the wall as far as the Refuse Gate. ¹⁴ And Malchijah the son of Rechab, the ruler of the district round about Beth-Haccerem, repaired the Refuse Gate, he and his sons; and they covered it, and set up its doors, and its bolts, and its bars. ¹⁵ But Shallun the son of Col-Hozeh repaired the gate of the fountain, the ruler of part of Mizpah. He built it, and covered it, and set up its doors and its bars, and the wall of the pool of the skins by the meadow of the king, and as far as the steps that lead down from the City of David. ¹⁶ After him repaired Nehemiah son of Azbuk, ruler of half the district round about Beth Zur, as far as the garden of David's Tomb, and as far as the artificial pool, and as far as the house of the mighty men.

⁴ Now the city was wide and large, and the people were few in it, and the houses were not built.

¹⁸ Do good, O Lord, to Zion in Your good pleasure; and let the walls of Jerusalem be built.

¹³ You shall arise, and have mercy upon Zion; for it is time to have mercy upon her, for the appointed time has come. ¹⁴ For Your servants have taken pleasure in her stones, and they shall pity her dust. ¹⁵ So the nations shall fear Your name, O Lord, and all kings Your glory. ¹⁶ For the Lord shall build up Zion, and shall appear in His glory.

²⁰ to hear the groaning of the fettered ones, to loosen the sons of the slain; ²¹ to proclaim the name of the Lord in Zion, and His praise in Jerusalem; ²² when the people have gathered together, and the kings, to serve the Lord.

¹¹ And it shall be in that day, that the Lord shall again show His hand, to be zealous for the remnant that is left of the people, which shall be left by the Assyrians, and that from Egypt, and from the country of Babylon, and from Ethiopia, and from the Elamites, and from the rising of the sun, and out of Arabia. ¹² And He shall lift up a standard for the nations, and He shall gather the lost ones of Israel, and He shall gather the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth.

³² And what shall the kings of the nations answer? That the Lord has founded Zion, and by Him the poor of the people shall be saved.

¹³ And it shall come to pass in that day that they shall blow the great trumpet, and the lost ones in the land of the Assyrians shall come, and the lost ones in Egypt, and shall worship the Lord on the holy mountain in Jerusalem.

⁸ says the Lord that gathers the dispersed of Israel; for I will gather to him a congregation.

⁷ For there is none like You, when He shall have established, and made Jerusalem a praise on the earth.

⁴ For I will build you, and you shall be built, O virgin of Israel. You shall yet take your timbrel, and go forth with the party of them that make merry.

³⁷ Behold, I will gather them out of every land, where I have scattered them in My anger, and My wrath, and great fury; and I will bring them back into this place, and will cause them to dwell safely:

²⁴ And I will take you out from the nations, and will gather you out of all the lands, and will bring you into your own land; ²⁵ and I will sprinkle clean water upon you, and you shall be purged from all your uncleannesses, and from all your idols, and I will cleanse you. ²⁶ And I will give you a new heart, and will put a new spirit in you: and I will take away the heart of stone out of your flesh, and will give you a heart of flesh. ²⁷ And I will put My Spirit in you, and will cause you to walk in My ordinances, and to keep My judgments, and do them. ²⁸ And you shall dwell upon the land which I gave to your fathers; and you shall be to Me a people, and I will be to you a God. ²⁹ And I will save you from all your uncleannesses; and I will call for the grain, and multiply it, and will not bring famine upon you. ³⁰ And I will multiply the fruit of the trees, and the produce of the field, that you may not bear the reproach of famine among the nations. ³¹ And you shall remember your evil ways and your practices that were not good, and you shall be hateful in your own sight for your transgressions and for your abominations. ³² Not for your sakes do I do this, says the Lord God, as it is known to you; be ashamed and confounded for your own ways, O house of Israel. ³³ Thus says the Lord God: In the day in which I shall cleanse you from all your iniquities, I will also cause the cities to be inhabited, and the waste places shall be built upon; ³⁴ and the desolate land shall be cultivated, whereas it was desolate in the eyes of everyone that passed by. ³⁵ And they shall say, That desolate land has become like a garden of delight; and the waste and desolate and ruined cities are inhabited. ³⁶ And the nations, as many as shall have been left round about you, shall know that I the Lord have built the ruined cities and planted what was desolate. I the Lord have spoken, and will do it. ³⁷ Thus says the Lord God: Yet for this will I be sought by the house of Israel, to establish them; I will multiply them, even men as sheep; ³⁸ as holy sheep, as the sheep of Jerusalem in her feasts; thus shall the desert cities be full of flocks of men. And they shall know that I am the Lord.

²¹ And you shall say to them, Thus says the Lord God: Behold, I will take the whole house of Israel out of the midst of the nations, among whom they have gone, and I will gather them from all that are round about them, and I will bring them into the land of Israel. ²² And I will make them a nation in My land, even on the mountains of Israel; and they shall have one prince; and they shall be two nations no longer, neither shall they be divided anymore into two kingdoms; ²³ that they may no more defile themselves with their idols; and I will deliver them from all their transgressions whereby they have sinned, and I will cleanse them; and they shall be to Me a people, and I the Lord will be to them a God. ²⁴ And My servant David shall be a prince in the midst of them. There shall be one shepherd of them all; for they shall walk in My ordinances, and keep My judgments, and do them. ²⁵ And they shall dwell in their land, which I have given to My servant Jacob, where their fathers dwelt; and they shall dwell upon it; and David My servant shall be their prince forever. ²⁶ And I will make with them a covenant of peace; it shall be an everlasting covenant with them; and I will establish My sanctuary in the midst of them forever. ²⁷ And My tabernacle shall be among them; and I will be to them a God, and they shall be My people. ²⁸ And the nations shall know that I am the Lord that sanctifies them, when My sanctuary is in the midst of them forever.

⁸ He shall be prepared after many days, and he shall come at the end of years, and shall come to a land that is brought back from the sword, when the people have been gathered from many nations against the land of Israel, which was entirely desolate; and he has come forth out of the nations, and they shall all dwell securely.

²⁷ when I have brought them back from the nations, and gathered them out of the countries of the nations; and I will be sanctified among them in the presence of the nations. ²⁸ And they shall know that I am the Lord their God, when I have been manifested to them among the nations.

²⁵ And you shall know and understand, that from the going forth of the command for the answer and for the building of Jerusalem, until Christ the Prince, there shall be seven weeks, and sixty-two weeks; and then the time shall return, and the street shall be built, and the wall, and the times shall be exhausted.

¹⁸ And I also say to you that you are Peter, and upon this rock I shall build My church, and the gates of Hell shall not prevail against it.

¹² that at that time you were apart from Christ, being estranged from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers to the covenants of promise, not having hope and atheists in the world. ¹³ But now in Christ Jesus, you who once were far away have come to be near by the blood of Christ. ¹⁴ For He Himself is our peace, who has made both one, and who destroyed the dividing wall of separation, ¹⁵ having abolished in His flesh the enmity, that is, the law of commandments contained in ordinances, that He might create in Himself one new man from the two, thus making peace, ¹⁶ and that He might reconcile them both to God in one body through the cross, putting to death the enmity in Himself. ¹⁷ And having come, He preached peace to you who were far away and to those near. ¹⁸ Because through Him we both have access by one Spirit to the Father. ¹⁹ So then, you are no longer strangers and aliens, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God,
