¹⁵ Bring not an ungodly man into the dwelling of the righteous: neither be deceived by the feeding of the belly.

¹¹ As they went up the ascent to the city, they found young women coming out to draw water, and they say to them, Is the seer here?

¹⁸ And the king said to Doeg, Turn, and fall upon the priests: and Doeg the Syrian turned, and killed the priests of the Lord in that day, three hundred and five men, all wearing an ephod. ¹⁹ And he struck Nob, the city of the priest, with the edge of the sword, both man and woman, infant and suckling, calf and ox, and also sheep.

²⁰ And now according to all the king's desire to come down, let him come down to us; they have shut him up into the hands of the king. ²¹ And Saul said to them, Blessed are you of the Lord, for you have been grieved on my account. ²² Go, I pray, and make preparations yet, and notice his place where his foot shall be, quickly, in that place which you spoke of, lest by any means he should deal craftily. ²³ Take notice, then, and learn, and I will go with you. And it shall come to pass that if he is in the land, I will search him out among all the thousands of Judah.

⁸ He lies in wait with rich men in secret places, in order to slay the innocent: his eyes are set against the poor. ⁹ He lies in wait in secret as a lion in his den: he lies in wait to ravish the poor, to ravish the poor when he draws him after him: he will bring him down in his snare. ¹⁰ He will bow down and fall when he has mastered the poor.

³² The sinner watches the righteous, and seeks to slay him.

⁶ They will dwell near and hide themselves; they will watch my steps, accordingly as I have waited patiently in my soul.

³ For behold, they have hunted after my soul; violent men have set upon me; neither is it my iniquity, nor my sin, O Lord.

⁵ The proud have hid a snare for me, and have stretched out ropes for snares for my feet; they set a stumbling block for me near the path. Pause.

¹¹ If they should exhort you, saying, Come with us, partake in blood, and let us unjustly hide the just man in the earth:

²⁸ Remove not the old landmarks, which your fathers placed.

¹⁸ And His people shall inhabit a city of peace, and dwell in it in confidence, and they shall rest with wealth.

¹⁹ But I, as an innocent lamb led to the slaughter, did not know. Against me they devised an evil device, saying, Come and let us put wood into his bread, and let us utterly destroy him from off the land of the living, and let his name not be remembered any more.

⁴ and plotted to take Jesus by guile and kill Him.

²⁴ But their plot became known to Saul. And they closely watched the city gates both day and night, in order that they might kill him.

¹⁶ But when Paul's sister's son heard about the ambush, he came and entered into the barracks, and told this to Paul.

³ asking for favor against him, that he would summon him to Jerusalem--while planning an ambush to kill him along the way.
