¹ Then He spoke a parable to them, that one must always pray and not lose heart,

⁹ And Jacob said, God of my father Abraham, and God of my father Isaac, O Lord, You are He that said to me, Depart quickly to the land of your birth, and I will do you good. ¹⁰ Let there be to me a sufficiency of all the justice and all the truth which You have wrought with Your servant; for with this my staff I passed over this Jordan, and now I have become two camps. ¹¹ Deliver me from the hand of my brother, from the hand of Esau, for I am afraid of him, lest haply he should come and attack me, and the mother with the children. ¹² But You said, I will do you good, and will make your seed as the sand of the sea, which shall not be numbered for multitude.

²⁴ And Jacob was left alone; and a Man wrestled with him till the morning. ²⁵ And He saw that He prevailed not against him; and He touched the broad part of his thigh, and the broad part of Jacob's thigh was numbed in his wrestling with Him. ²⁶ And He said to him, Let Me go, for the day has dawned; but he said, I will not let You go, except You bless me.

⁸ For what is the hope of the ungodly, that he holds to it? Will he indeed trust in the Lord and be saved? ⁹ Will God hear his prayer? Or when distress has come upon him, ¹⁰ has he any confidence before Him? Or will God hear him as he calls upon Him?

¹³ I believe that I shall see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.

¹⁶ I cried to God, and the Lord hearkened to me. ¹⁷ Evening and morning and at noon I will declare and make known my needs; and He shall hear my voice.

² Hear my prayer; to You all flesh shall come.

³ Pity me, O Lord; for to You will I cry all the day.

¹⁷ He has had regard to the prayer of the lowly, and has not despised their petition.

⁵ I cried unto You, O Lord, and said, You are my hope, my portion in the land of the living. ⁶ Attend to my supplication, for I am brought very low; deliver me from them that persecute me; for they are stronger than I. ⁷ Bring my soul out of prison, that I may give thanks to Your name, O Lord; the righteous shall wait for me, until You recompense me.

¹² And pray to Me, and I will hearken to you; and you shall earnestly seek Me, and you shall find Me;

^{7 (2:8)} When my soul was failing me, I remembered the Lord; and may my prayer come to You into Your holy temple.

⁵ And He said to them, "Which of you shall have a friend, and go to him at midnight and say to him, 'Friend, lend me three loaves; ⁶ for a friend has come to me on his journey, and I have nothing to set before him'; ⁷ and he will answer from within and say, 'Do not trouble me; the door has already been shut, and my children are with me in bed; I cannot get up and give to you'? ⁸ I say to you, even if he will not get up and give to him, because he is his friend, yet on account of his persistence he will get up and give him as much as he needs. ⁹ "So I say to you, ask, and it shall be given to you; seek, and you shall find; knock, and it shall be opened to you.

³⁶ Watch therefore, praying always that you may be counted worthy to escape everything that is about to happen, and to stand before the Son of Man."

¹² rejoicing in hope, enduring in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer;

¹ Therefore, since we have this ministry, as we received mercy, we do not despair,

⁹ And while we do good, let us not lose heart, for in due season we shall reap if we do not become weary.

¹⁸ through every prayer and petition, praying in every season in the Spirit, being watchful to this same thing with all perseverance and petition concerning all the saints--

⁶ Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and petition, along with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;

² Continue earnestly in prayer, being vigilant in it with thanksgiving;

¹² Epaphras greets you, who is one of you, a bondservant of Christ, always struggling for you in his prayers, that you may stand mature and complete in all the will of God.

¹⁷ Pray without ceasing!

³ For consider Him who endured such hostility from sinners against Himself, lest you be weary and discouraged in your souls. ⁴ You have not yet resisted to the point of bloodshed, struggling against sin. ⁵ And you have forgotten the exhortation which speaks to you as to sons: "My son, do not despise the discipline of the LORD, nor be discouraged when you are reproved;
