¹³ A mortal has not known its way, neither indeed has it been discovered among men.

¹⁵ One shall not give fine gold instead of it, neither shall silver be weighed in exchange for it. ¹⁶ Neither shall it be compared with the gold of Ophir, with the precious onyx and sapphire. ¹⁷ Gold and crystal shall not be equaled to it, neither shall vessels of gold be its exchange. ¹⁸ Coral and fine pearl shall not be mentioned, but do you esteem wisdom above the most precious things. ¹⁹ The topaz of Ethiopia shall not be equaled to it; it shall not be compared with pure gold.

²¹ It has escaped the notice of every man, and has been hidden from the birds of the sky. ²² Destruction and Death said, We have heard the report of it.

¹⁰ To be desired more than gold, and much precious stone; sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.

⁵ Therefore may God destroy you forever, may He pluck you up and utterly remove you from your dwelling, and your root from the land of the living. Pause.

⁷² The law of Your mouth is better to me than thousands of coins of gold and silver.

¹⁴ For it is better to traffic for her, than for treasures of gold and silver. ¹⁵ And she is more valuable than precious stones: no evil thing shall resist her. She is well known to all that approach her, and no precious thing is equal to her in value.

¹¹ For wisdom is better than precious stones; and no valuable substance is of equal worth with it.

¹⁸ Wealth and glory belong to me; yea, abundant possessions and righteousness. ¹⁹ It is better to have my fruit than to have gold and precious stones; and my produce is better than choice silver.

¹⁶ The brood of wisdom is more to be chosen than gold, and the brood of prudence more to be chosen than silver.

¹⁶ On this I set my heart to know wisdom, and to perceive the trouble that was done upon the earth; even though one sees no sleep day or night. ¹⁷ And I beheld all the works of God, that a man shall not be able to discover the work which is done under the sun. Whatever things a man shall endeavor to seek, however a man may labor to seek it, yet he shall not find it. Moreover, though a wise man may speak of knowing it, he shall not be able to find it; for I applied all this to my heart, and my heart has seen all this.

¹¹ I said, I shall no more see the salvation of God in the land of the living; I shall no more see the salvation of Israel on the earth; I shall no more see man.

⁸ In His humiliation His judgment was taken away; who shall declare His generation? For His life is taken away from the earth; because of the iniquities of My people He was led to death.
