¹⁴ And if you shall trust in Him, He shall be to you for a sanctuary; and you shall not come against Him as against a stumbling stone, neither as against the falling of a rock; but the houses of Jacob are in a snare, and those who dwell in Jerusalem are in a pit.

⁶ He shall rain upon sinners snares, fire, and brimstone, and a stormy blast shall be the portion of their cup.

¹ For the end, for the sons of Korah; A Psalm concerning secret things. God is our refuge and strength, a help in the afflictions that have come heavily upon us. ² Therefore will we not fear when the earth is troubled, and the mountains are removed into the depths of the seas.

²² Let their table before them be for a snare, and for a recompense, and for a stumbling block.

¹⁰ The name of the Lord is of great strength; and the righteous running to it are exalted.

⁶ And it shall be for a shadow from the heat, and as a shelter and a hiding place from inclemency of weather and from rain.

¹⁷ Fear, and a pit, and a snare, are upon you that dwell on the earth. ¹⁸ And it shall come to pass, that he that flees from the fear shall fall into the pit; and he that comes up out of the pit shall be caught by the snare; for windows have been opened in heaven, and the foundations of the earth shall be shaken,

¹⁶ Therefore say, Thus says the Lord: I will cast them off among the nations, and will disperse them into every land, yet will I be to them for a little sanctuary in the countries which they shall enter.

⁵⁷ So they were offended at Him. But Jesus said to them, "A prophet is not without honor except in his hometown, and in his own house."

³⁴ Then Simeon blessed them, and said to Mary His mother, "Behold, this Child is destined for the fall and rise of many in Israel, and for a sign which will be spoken against

³⁵ For it will come as a snare on all those who live on the face of the whole earth.

³² Why? Because they did not seek it by faith, but as it were, by the works of the law. For they stumbled the stone of stumbling. ³³ Just as it is written: "Behold, I lay in Zion a stone of stumbling and rock of offense, and everyone believing on Him will not be put to shame."

⁹ And David says: "Let their table become a snare and a trap, a stumbling block and a recompense to them. ¹⁰ Let their eyes be darkened, so that they do not see, and their back always be bowed down." ¹¹ I say then, have they stumbled that they should fall? Certainly not! But by their transgression, salvation has come to the Gentiles, to provoke them to jealousy.

³⁵ "Or who has first given to Him, and it shall be repaid to him?"

⁸ and "a stone of stumbling and a rock of offense." They stumble, being disobedient to the word, to which they also were appointed.
