¹² Stand now with your enchantments, and with the abundance of your sorcery, which you have learned from your youth; if you can be profited.

¹¹ But Pharaoh called together the wise men of Egypt, and the sorcerers, and the charmers, also of the Egyptians, and they did likewise with their sorceries.

⁷ And the charmers of the Egyptians also did likewise with their sorceries, and brought up the frogs on the land of Egypt.

¹⁸ And the charmers also did so with their sorceries, to bring forth the lice, but they could not. And the lice were both on the men and on the beasts. ¹⁹ So the charmers said to Pharaoh, This is the finger of God. But the heart of Pharaoh was hardened, and he did not listen to them, as the Lord said.

¹¹ And the sorcerers could not stand before Moses because of the sores, for the sores were on the sorcerers, and in all the land of Egypt.

¹⁹ And if they should say to you, Seek those who have in them a divining spirit, and them that speak out of the earth, them that speak vain words, who speak out of their belly; shall not a nation diligently seek their God? Why do they look to the dead concerning the living?

³ And the spirit of the Egyptians shall be troubled within them; and I will frustrate their counsel; and they shall inquire of their gods and their images, and them that speak out of the earth, and them that have in them a divining spirit.

²⁵ Who else will frustrate the tokens of those that have divining spirits, and prophecies from the heart of man? Turning the wise back, and making their counsel foolishness;

⁹ But now these two things shall come upon you suddenly in one day, the loss of children and widowhood shall come suddenly upon you, for your sorcery, for the strength of your enchantments, ¹⁰ for your trusting in wickedness; for you said, I am, and there is not another; know therefore the understanding of these things and your harlotry shall be your shame; for you said in your heart, I am, and there is not another.

²⁸ And where are your gods which you have made for yourself? Will they arise and save you in the time of your affliction? For according to the number of your cities were your gods, O Judah; and according to the number of the streets of Jerusalem they sacrificed to Baal.

⁷ And the king cried aloud to bring in the magicians, Chaldeans, and soothsayers. And he said to the wise men of Babylon, Whosoever shall read this writing, and make known to me the interpretation, shall be clothed with scarlet, and there shall be a golden chain upon his neck, and he shall be the third ruler in my kingdom. ⁸ Then all the king's wise men came in, but they could not read the writing, nor make known its interpretation to the king. ⁹ And King Belshazzar was troubled, and his countenance changed upon him, and his nobles were troubled with him.

⁴ because of the abundance of her fornication: she is a fair harlot, and well-favored, skilled in sorcery, that sells the nations by her fornication, and peoples by her sorceries.

⁸ But Elymas the sorcerer (for so his name is translated) resisted them, seeking to turn away the proconsul from the faith. ⁹ But Saul, who also is called Paul, was filled with the Holy Spirit, and gazing intently at him, ¹⁰ he said, "O full of all guile and all craft, you son of the devil, you enemy of all righteousness, will you not cease perverting the straight ways of the Lord? ¹¹ And now behold, the hand of the Lord is upon you, and you shall be blind, not seeing the sun for a season." And immediately a mistiness and darkness fell upon him, and going about, he sought someone to lead him by the hand. ¹² Then when the proconsul saw what had happened, he believed, being amazed at the teaching of the Lord.

⁹ whose coming is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, ¹⁰ and in all deception of unrighteousness among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. ¹¹ And because of this, God will send them strong delusion, in order for them to believe the lie, ¹² so that they all might be damned who did not believe the truth, but delighted in unrighteousness.

⁴ And the woman was clothed in purple and scarlet, gilded with gold and precious stones and pearls, having in her hand a golden cup being filled with abominations and the filthiness of the fornication of the earth. ⁵ And on her forehead a name was written: MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND OF THE ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH. ⁶ I saw the woman, drunk with the blood of the saints and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus. And when I saw her, I marveled with great amazement.
