¹³ And I will stretch out over Jerusalem the measure of Samaria, and the plummet of the house of Ahab; and I will wipe Jerusalem as a jar is wiped, and turned upside down in the wiping.

²¹ But wild beasts shall rest there; and the houses shall be filled with howling; and monsters shall rest there, and demons shall dance there, ²² and satyrs shall dwell there; and hedgehogs shall make their nests in their houses. It will come soon, and will not tarry.

¹¹ and for a long time birds and hedgehogs, and ibises and ravens shall dwell in it; and the measuring line of desolation shall be cast over it, and satyrs shall dwell in it. ¹² Her princes shall be no more, for her kings and her great men shall be destroyed. ¹³ And thorns shall spring up in their cities, and in her strongholds; and they shall be habitations of monsters, and a court of ostriches. ¹⁴ And demons shall meet with satyrs, and they shall cry one to the other; there shall the satyrs rest, having found for themselves a place of rest. ¹⁵ There has the hedgehog made its nest, and the earth has safely preserved its young; there have the deer met, and seen one another's faces.

³⁹ Therefore shall idols dwell in the islands, and the young ostriches shall dwell in it. It shall not be inhabited anymore, forever. ⁴⁰ As God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities bordering upon them, says the Lord: no man shall dwell there, and no son of man shall sojourn there.

²⁵ Behold, I am against you, the ruined mountain, that destroys the whole earth; and I will stretch out My hand upon you, and will roll you down upon the rocks, and will make you as a burnt mountain. ²⁶ And they shall not take from you a stone for a corner, nor a stone for a foundation; for you shall be a desolation forever, says the Lord.

⁴² The sea has come up upon Babylon with the sound of its waves, and she is covered. ⁴³ Her cities have become like a dry and trackless land; not so much as one soul shall dwell in it, neither shall a son of man lodge in it.

¹⁴ And flocks, and all the wild beasts of the land, and chameleons shall feed in the midst thereof: and hedgehogs shall lodge in the ceilings thereof; and wild beasts shall cry in the breaches thereof, and ravens in her porches, whereas her loftiness was as a cedar.

⁸ And another, a second angel followed, saying, "Babylon the great has fallen. From the wine of the wrath of her fornication, she has made all the nations to drink."

² And he cried out with a strong voice, saying, "Babylon the great has fallen, and she has become a dwelling place of demons, a prison for every unclean spirit, and a cage for every unclean and detestable bird!

²¹ Then a mighty angel picked up a stone like a great millstone and threw it into the sea, saying, "Thus with violence Babylon the great city shall be cast down, and shall by no means be found anymore. ²² The sound of harpists, and musicians, and of flutists, and of trumpeters shall by no means be heard in you anymore. And no craftsman of any craft shall by no means be found in you anymore, and the sound of a mill shall by no means be heard in you anymore. ²³ And the light of a lamp shall by no means shine in you anymore, and the voice of bridegroom and of a bride shall by no means be heard in you anymore. Your merchants were the magnates of the earth, for by your sorcery all the nations were deceived.
