²¹ Say to the house of Israel, Thus says the Lord: Behold, I will profane My sanctuary, the boast of your strength, the desire of your eyes, and for which your souls are concerned; and your sons and your daughters, whom you have left, shall fall by the sword.

⁴ One thing have I asked of the Lord, this will I earnestly seek; that I should dwell in the house of the Lord, all the days of my life, that I should behold the fair beauty of the Lord, and survey His temple.

⁷ They have burned Your sanctuary with fire to the ground; they have profaned the habitation of Your name.

²¹ For death has come up through your windows, it has entered into our land, to destroy the infants outside, and the young men from the streets.

³ For thus says the Lord concerning the sons and daughters that are born in this place, and concerning their mothers that have born them, and their fathers that have begotten them in this land: ⁴ They shall die a grievous death. They shall not be lamented over, nor buried; they shall be for an example on the face of the earth; and they shall be for the wild beasts of the land, and for the birds of the sky. They shall fall by the sword, and shall be consumed with famine.

¹⁰ ( { ι}) JOD. The oppressor has stretched out his hand on all her desirable things, for she has seen the Gentiles entering into her sanctuary, concerning whom You commanded that they should not enter into Your congregation.

⁶ ( { ε}) VAU. And He has scattered His tabernacle as a vine, He has marred His feast; the Lord has forgotten the feast and the Sabbath which He appointed in Zion, and in the fury of His wrath has vexed the king, priest, and prince. ⁷ ( { ζ}) ZAIN. The Lord has rejected His altar, He has cast off His sanctuary, He has broken by the hand of the enemy the wall of her palaces; they have uttered their voice in the house of the Lord as on a feast day.

²⁰ As for their choice ornaments, they employed them for pride, and they made of them images of their abominations; therefore have I made them uncleanness to them. ²¹ And I will deliver them into the hands of strangers to make them a prey, and to the pests of the earth for a spoil; and they shall profane them. ²² And I will turn away My face from them, and they shall defile My secret place, and shall go in to them unguardedly, and profane them.

⁷ And He said to them, Defile the house, and go out and fill the ways with dead bodies, and strike.

²⁵ And I will bring upon you My jealousy, and they shall deal with you in great wrath. They shall take away your nose and your ears, and shall cast down your remnant with the sword. They shall take your sons and your daughters, and fire shall devour your remnant.

⁴⁷ And stone them with the stones of a multitude, and pierce them with their swords; they shall slay their sons and their daughters, and shall burn up their houses.

¹⁶ Son of man, behold I take from you the desire of your eyes by violence. You shall not lament, neither shall you weep.

³¹ And seeds shall spring up out of him, and they shall profane the sanctuary of strength, and they shall remove the perpetual sacrifice, and make the abomination of desolation.

¹³ And they put forward false witnesses saying, "This man does not cease to speak blasphemous words against the holy place and the law; ¹⁴ for we have heard him saying that this Jesus the Nazarene will destroy this place and change the customs which Moses handed down to us."
