³⁵ By all things I have shown you, that thus laboring it is necessary to help those being weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He said, 'It is more blessed to give than to receive.' "

¹ For the end, A Psalm of David. Blessed is the man who thinks on the poor and needy; the Lord shall deliver him in an evil day. ² May the Lord preserve him and keep him alive, and bless him on the earth, and not deliver him into the hands of his enemy. ³ May the Lord help him upon the bed of his pain; You have made all his bed in his sickness.

⁵ The good man is he that pities and lends; he will direct his affairs with judgment. ⁶ For he shall not be moved forever; the righteous shall be in everlasting remembrance. ⁷ He shall not be afraid of any evil report; his heart is ready to trust in the Lord. ⁸ His heart is established, he shall not fear, till he shall see his desire upon his enemies. ⁹ He has dispersed abroad; he has given to the poor; his righteousness endures forever; his horn shall be exalted with honor.

¹⁷ He that has pity on the poor lends to the Lord, and He will recompense to him according to his gift.

⁸ But the godly have devised wise measures, and this counsel shall stand.

³ Be strong, you relaxed hands and feeble knees.

⁷ Break your bread to the hungry, and lead the unsheltered poor to your house; if you see one naked, clothe him, and you shall not disregard the relations of your own seed. ⁸ Then shall your light break forth as the morning, and your health shall speedily spring forth; and your righteousness shall go before you, and the glory of God shall surround you. ⁹ Then shall you cry, and God shall hearken to you; while you are yet speaking He will say, Behold, I am here. If you remove from you the band, and the stretching forth of the hands, and murmuring speech; ¹⁰ and if you give bread to the hungry from your heart, and satisfy the afflicted soul; then shall your light spring up in darkness, and your darkness shall be as noon day; ¹¹ and your God shall be with you continually, and you shall be satisfied according as your soul desires; and your bones shall be made fat, and shall be as a well-watered garden, and as a fountain from which the water has not failed. ¹² And your old waste desert places shall be built up, and your foundations shall last through all generations; and you shall be called a repairer of breaches, and you shall cause your paths between to be in peace.

⁸ "Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, cast out demons. Freely you have received, freely give.

³⁴ Then the King will say to those on His right hand, 'Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: ³⁵ for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; ³⁶ I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.' ³⁷ "Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, 'Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? ³⁸ When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? ³⁹ Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?' ⁴⁰ "And the King will answer and say to them, 'Assuredly I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brothers, you did it to Me.'

¹² Then He also said to him who invited Him, "When you give a dinner or a supper, do not call your friends, nor your brothers, nor your relatives, nor rich neighbors, lest they also invite you back, and you be repaid. ¹³ But whenever you give a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind; ¹⁴ and you will be blessed, because they do not have anything to repay you; for it will be repaid to you in the resurrection of the just."

²⁰ how I kept back nothing that was profitable, but declared it to you, teaching you publicly and from house to house,

²⁷ For I did not draw back from declaring to you the whole counsel of God.

¹ We then who are strong are obligated to bear with the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves.

¹² If others partake of this right over you, do not we even more? Nevertheless we did not use this right, but bear all things lest we hinder the gospel of Christ.

⁹ For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet on account of you He became poor, that you through His poverty might become rich.

⁶ But this I say: he who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. ⁷ Let each one give just as he decides in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver. ⁸ And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that in everything always having all sufficiency, you may abound for every good work, ⁹ just as it is written: "He has dispersed, He has given to the poor; His righteousness endures forever." ¹⁰ Now may He who supplies seed to the sower, and bread for food, supply and multiply the seed you have sown and increase the fruits of your righteousness; ¹¹ in everything being made rich to all generosity, which produces thanksgiving through us to God. ¹² Because the ministry of this service not only is supplying the needs of the saints, but also is abounding through many thanksgivings to God,

⁹ and when I was present with you, and in need, I did not burden anyone; for the brothers who came from Macedonia supplied my need. And in everything I kept myself from being a burden to you, and so I will keep myself.

¹² But what I am doing, I will also continue to do, that I may cut off the opportunity of those who desire an opportunity, that in what they boast they may be found just as we are.

¹³ For what is it in which you were inferior to other churches, except that I myself did not burden you? Forgive me this wrong!

²⁸ Let him who stole steal no longer, but rather let him labor, working that which is good with his hands, in order that he may have something to share with him who has need.

¹⁷ Not that I seek the gift, but I seek the fruit which is increasing to your account. ¹⁸ And I have all things and abound. I have been made full, having received from Epaphroditus the things sent from you, a fragrant aroma, an acceptable sacrifice, well pleasing to God. ¹⁹ And my God will supply all your need according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus. ²⁰ Now to our God and Father be glory forever and ever. Amen.

¹¹ and that you aspire to be quiet, and to mind your own business, and to work with your own hands, just as we commanded you,

¹⁴ Now we exhort you, brothers, admonish the disorderly, encourage the discouraged, be supportive of the weak, be patient toward all.

¹² Therefore strengthen the hands which are weakened, and the feeble knees, ¹³ and make straight paths for your feet, so that the lame may not be turned aside, but rather be healed.

³ Remember the prisoners as if having been bound with them, those who are ill treated, as you yourselves are in the body also.

¹⁶ But do not forget the doing of good and generosity, for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.
